Default Do you Buy Movies that you know you won't watch for awhile?

How Many of you buy movie or tv shows on blu-ray that for a fact you know you won't be watching it any time soon and just like having it in your collection for a raining day?

Yes, I do.

I have watched every movie in my collection. Many twice, and some quite a few times.

Occasionally, most recent example is probably 3:10 to Yuma.

I usually never do this. However, since I got my license, I've been taking more frequent trips to Best Buy, allowing me to look at more titles on sale in-store, making me more inclined to purchase a Blu just because it's cheaper than usual. Most recent is 3:10 to Yuma, which I hadn't been planning on watching anytime soon after I bought it. Usually, though, I'll purchase something because I'm excited for its release and will watch it as soon as possible. The TV seasons I have purchased (all 4 of them) were ones that I either found cheap (Terminator: TSCC S1 and Fringe S1) or knew that I wanted and would watch eventually (TSCC S2 and Fringe S2).

I try only to buy movies I'm in the mood to watch. Although, my mood changes fairly frequently so by the time I get to watch some of the movies I get I no longer feel like watching them and they sit on the shelf for a month or so before I finally get to them. This happens pretty often actually, which is why I prefer to buy instead of rent on most occasions.

Yep. I'm sure most do because of the fact it is priced right and they have wanted it and waited till then to do so regardless of when it will be watched rainy day or whenever. However, that isn't to day they haven't watched it on BD via a rental though till then and just knew they had to have it in their collectiion!

I do it all the time, particularly if it's on sale.

I did quite a bit in 2008 and 2009, but in 2010 I realized that I needed to slow down. I have about 90 titles that I rented, watched, then purchased, but I have not watched them since that original BD rental, but I am slowly catching up. I have really cut back on buying as I have only bought 5 BDs in the last 2.5 months. With Christmas coming I am hoping family members will put a dent in my wish-list.

I do, but only because of sales. I've been snapping up $7.99-$9.99 Blu-ray catalogs like crazy lately.

Just movies that I've previously seen. It just sits on my shelf and sometimes I just stare at them while trying to decide when I should watch them.

Guilty. I have some that I got almost 2 years ago that have never seen the inside of a Blu-ray playeer yet. Most of which are just upgrades.

Mostly I buy movies I will watch the same day or the next day, but if I find an AMAZINGLY good price I may (MAY) pick it up for later. I will trade for movies that I may not watch for a long time, but again only if it is a good deal and I do someday plan to watch it.

Yes, if I can get a title for a good price, I'll buy it to watch sometime later.

I do. I'll go to FYE quite a bit and grab 3 used movies for the buy 2 get one free or 50% promos they do from time to time to add to the collection since they were a good price with no intention of watching all of them in any specific time.

of course-- based on sales as has been said in prior posts--

an example of something I'll wait awhile to watch-- a movie that I've recently seen on netflix or cable-- liked it a lot and then see a good price on blu-- this may wait months before I watch it again cause I'm gonna pick movies I haven't see first...

Unfortunately, I've done this a few times:

1) Purchased a movie because it was on sale
2) Never got around to watching it
3) Sold it

You know it's bad when new seasons of TV shows come out, and you still haven't looked at the last season.

It's not that I don't want to watch them - just hard to find the time to view so much.

I do. There is a sale. The price is good. I definitely snatch it regardless of when I am going to watch it. Moreover when I will want to watch it, I just take it from the shelf instead of going to buy it at a higher price and wait for delivery.
