Yes, the Acoustic Audio sub will work with your receiver and your current setup. As for whether or not it will outperform your existing sub is a matter of subjectivity. However, there are not many 8" HTiB subs that will outperform a 15" driver. Given the price, you should be pleased with the results.

You can also pose that question in the Acoustic Audio owner's thread HERE

EDIT: I just noticed you did that already.

yea, that sub will work with you setup.

Just a word of caution, AA was having a major issue with their plate amps, Luckily I wasn't affected by it, but it used to be a big seller on this site for about a year, then all the issues happened and no-one has really been buying them since. I know they stopped selling the subs for a while. If they are selling them again, perhaps they have fixed the issue.

Otherwise for the same price the BIC PL200 and Premier Acoustic PA-120 would be probably better performers.

well Ill be honest my AA HD-SUB10 says its a 600 watt sub, and it doesn't even compare to my 200 watt eD sub in terms of power and output. Im pretty sure they are not truthful about their specs. I am honestly gonna sell my AA SUB10 because i really don't think its doing anything to enhance my audio experience. Plus it will help me get some extra money so I can buy my ultimate Dynaudio Excite X16 setup.

Thanks for the advice. Im really worried that this thing (like someone mentioned) is an untuned noise maker, like something some kid puts in the back of a honda civic and rattles to kingdom com. I have held off bc of that so if anyone has any negative thoughts please pm me.

The price is just really good but all the bad reviews that Im reading in that thread scare me

If you can squeeze your budget to $350, I would suggest trying out the Elemental Designs A2-250 subwoofer. It is a 10" ported sub, honestly rated at 200 watts, and it will offer better extension and definition than the Accoustic Audio sub you're looking at buying. Here is a link:

http://www.edesignaudio.com/product_...roducts_id=406

The Accoustic Audio isn't bad, but the Elemental Designs would probably be better - especially for home theater use.

Woah, the Lava Sub, which I just saw, looks worth checking out. With it's 30-day money back guarantee, it would be hard to lose out on.

Funny how you say "honestly rated". So these other subs would sound better even though they are not rated at at 1000 watts like the AA

I am not sure on what basis you are making the comparison. I tested the Acoustic Audio HD-SUB12 with its original driver and its low frequency extension below 20Hz was very good. Later, I replaced the driver with an ED driver that is used in their A2-300 subwoofer and its low frequency around 20Hz wasn't as good. Check post #3 of the AA thread.

https://forum.blu-ray.com/subwoofers...rs-thread.html

I am not saying AA is better than ED. There are other factors that play a role in determining the performance of a subwoofer. However, I know people who have been able to buy brand new AA HD-SUB15 on Ebay for $150 and the AA HD-SUB-12 below $120. At those prices, they are a bargain.

For your information, I have two ED/DIY (12" and 15") subwoofers and one modified AA subwoofer (Dayton driver). I am happy with all three. The AA sub is in my two-channel room and performs extremely well.

Yeah, I dunno about being a guinea pig and buying an AA sub...

Do you only watch movies or also listen to music? How big is the room? What is your budget?

I was running the Bic PL200 someone mentioned (it is still in my gallery but has been replaced), and it is a decent performing sub. It has a pretty good output and can go pretty low, but I have bottomed it out.

To be honest I really never even thought of the sub when I upgraded my audio/tv but after stumbling upon the AA thread I started thinking. See my JBL sub is pretty small but came in a HTIB and its alright. Its kept low the majority of the time bc of the newborn and wife. I mainly watch tv and movies and sometimes listen to music. I dont think I will ever put the sub to some of the stress that some of you guys do.

My tv is in the living room and I have an open floor plan. The sub I have now does the job but deep inside I wonder if I can do better. I really dont have a budget, well my budget is how much money I can sneak out w/o my wife knowing

Deep Discount addressed that issue several months ago. They posted in the AA thread here.

I have one of the new HD-SUB15's as a second unit. I'm very pleased with the results. At $157 shipped you can't beat the price.

Hey congrats on the new born!

In terms of bass, I actually have my sub calibrated to only about 2-3 db above my speakers. So I am not much for exaggerated bass. That is why I upgraded my PL-200 b/c I wanted something that performs better in music and movies... not more output.

Premier Acoustics has a 12 inch sub, the PA-120 that is pretty good (my friend has 2). You can get it at that site for $194 with the coupon code tv15.

Reading this, I'm surprised you didn't give my idea a consideration.

https://forum.blu-ray.com/subwoofers...t-company.html

The are giving a 30-Day In-Home Guarantee, if you don't like return it. I think this will take care of your curiosity.

Plus they are giving blu-ray.com people a 15% discount.

If I wasn’t already set with subs, I would do it just to try them out.
