Default Blu-ray Classics?

Hey guys, I'm looking for some old classic films that are currently on Blu-Ray.
They're for my father who is in fact 53 years of age, so anything from the '50s, '60s, '70s or even '80s would be great.

I currently have:
Wake In Fright - 1971
Red Dawn - 1984
Bad Boy Bubby - 1993
Kelly's Heroes - 1970
The Good, The Bad & The Ugly - 1966

He tends to like alot of stupid horror films and doesn't mind a western film now and then too.
If you have any idea films that you could recommend me please don't be shy.

Should we limit our suggestions to films released in Region B territories and on Region-Free discs, or do you have a region-free player?

The Proposition, comes to mind.

I have a Region Free player, so anything from anywhere would be fine

Well, quickly mining through my collection reveals these titles from that time period. Couldn't quite tell exactly what sort of titles from the 50s-80s the OP was looking for, so I just made it a free-for-all. Many of them are Criterion titles, which tend to be intelligent and artsy (and often in other languages), whatever the genre. Of course there are many more great movies from these time periods that I do not own, but c'est la vie.:

2001: A Space Odyssey (1968)... Sci-Fi
Bigger than Life (1956), Criterion... Drama
Black Christmas (1974)... Horror
Blade Runner (1982)... Gritty Sci-fi
Bonnie & Clyde (1967)... Crime
Breathless (1960), Criterion... Art House crime/drama
Carrie (1976)... Horror/drama
A Clockwork Orange (1971)... Crime/Psychological Thriller
Close Encounters of the Third Kind (1977)... Sci-fi
The Crazies (Original) (1973)... Horror
Creepshow (1982)... Horror
Dr. Strangelove, or: How I stopped worrying and learned to love the bomb (1964)... War/Black Humor
The Evil Dead (1981)... Horror
The Fly (1986)... Horror
Halloween (original) (1978)... Horror
In the Realm of the Senses (1976)... Drama/Eroticism
Jason and the Agronauts (1963)... Action and Adventure
Last Year At Marienbad (1961), Criterion... Art House drama
The Leopard (1963), Criterion... Drama/History
The Man Who Fell To Earth (1976), Criterion... Sci-fi/Drama
Monty Python's Life of Brian (1979)... British Humor
North By Northwest (1959)... Adventure/Thriller
The Omen (1976)... Horror
One Flew Over the Cuckoo's Nest (1975)... Drama
The Original Faces of Death (1978)... Documentary/Horror
Pierrot le Fou (1965), Criterion... Crime/Drama
Poltergeist (1982)... Horror/Supernatural
The Princess Bride (1987)... Comedy/Thriller/Romance/Everything Else
Red Desert (1964), Criterion... Drama
Repulsion (1965), Criterion... Horror/Psychological
The Seventh Seal (1957), Criterion... Drama/Supernatural
The Shining (1980)... Horror
Sleeping Beauty (1959)... Animation
The Texas Chain Saw Massacre (1974)... Horror
Vanishing Point (1971)... Car Chase Thriller
Vivre sa Vie (1962), Criterion... Drama
The Wages of Fear (1953), Criterion... Thriller/Drama

You should start with movies that he actually likes.

If he doesn't like Picnic At Hanging Rock then why bother getting it for him?

Um, yes it is. From Umbrella in Australia, and Second Sight in the UK.
