Now I get it, and I should have known as I have both these albums on vinyl. The reason for them not being a part of the CD Remaster set is that these are compilation albums.

The Red Album contains all the hits from 1962-1966. The Blue Album, on the other hand contains all the hits from 1967-1970. I have the Blue Album, but then again I have four studio albums from the band.

For those who aren't true-blue Beatles fans, but do like some of their music on occasion, these two compilations are a wonderful opportunity to enjoy a broad spectrum of their music.

Would you get the original version or the October 2010 remastered version?

I am thinking of getting the 1962-1966 one since I already have the Blue version.

Hi Lou,

I don't know who your question was directed at, but if the same care was given to the newly remastered version of the Red Album, as was done with their studio releases, then I'd say pickup the 2010 remaster.

Are the blue and red albums worth owning even if you already own the remastered box set? Is there anything different about the version of the songs on these compilations?

Four songs are in mono (Love Me Do, Please Please Me, From Me To You, She Loves You). They also each come with 32 page booklets containing photos and various beatles history and history about the blue and red compilation albums.

Unles you own the original blue album vinyl, the remaster job is superior to the past cd remaster and totally worth the double dip for the blue album as well. Bottom line, get both 2010 remaster cd sets.
