Default Dukhtar (Pakistani-2014) Blu-ray by Kino Lorber

Caught it on Netflix. When looking for its DVD, came across this BR. Is this the first Pakistani movie to get a Blu-ray release?

Sounds interesting and at a little over 90 min has less potential to drag.

I doubt this is full, 100% in-house Pakistani production like NMA, WAAR and some others!

This is more like Jamil Dehlvi JINNAH type British-Pakistani (ex-patriates) collaboration.

I might be wrong. This is just the guess.

^ Wikipedia lists it as Pakistani. It is produced by Zambeel Films (Lahore) & The Crew Films (Karachi) and is distributed by Geo Films (Karachi).

^It was also Pakistan's 2015 submission for the Academy Awards.

Default Dukhtar (Pakistani-2014) Blu-ray by Kino Lorber

Just saw this (thanks to you OP!) Amazing film and so very well made. I am wondering why I didn't hear about this before? Even in passing I had no info about this film.

I've never heard of this either - surely looks like a blind buy for me...

check out christiansinpakistan.com site.

http://arts.columbia.edu/film/faculty/afia-nathaniel

She is a Columbia University film school graduate. One of the expensive and good ones based in NYC. I wouldn't expect it to be anything less than solid good movie as she is in usualy same old pakistani boring familiar subject territory (terrorism, women empowerment, feminism etc). Pretty much same as Mrs Chinoy.

One thing about graduating from US film school like Columbia is they have an extended alumni network. Screenplays by foreign alumnni's get peer reviewed often to iron out flaws before going in-produciton internationally.

If you like social films, I think its a good buy.
