Default Are studios moving back to bigger boxes?

I was in my local DVD/BD shop the other day when I noticed that practically all the new releases on blu-ray are using the thicker version of the BD boxes, despite only containing one disc. My memory isn't great, but I seem to remember that the thicker box was what they mostly used in the beginning when they first started releasing BD. I originally got the impression that most new releases had moved towards the thinner boxes, which in my opinion are much better as they take less space. Now they seem to be going back to the bigger ones, which I think look terrible :P. The box of the remake of Nightmare on elm street is the same thickness as my greys anatomy season 4. Difference is that elm street is 1 disc while grays is 5 . Seems like a bit of a waste to use them.

Anyone else noticed this?
