Default Was Today (Nov 2nd) The Greatest Release Day Ever For Classic Films on Blu-Ray?

imo it had to be.
I've been following bd from the beginning and
with amazing restored blu-rays of "The Sound of Music", "Chitty-Chitty Bang Bang", "White Christmas" and "The Bridge On the River Kwai" all coming out on the same day, I can't think of another day that can top it as far as quality older catalog releases.
amazing day for fans of classic film.
anybody think of another release day that comes close?

Nope, but if The Wizard of Oz and Gone with the Wind had come out on the same day last year that would have topped today.

Depends what you consider "Classic". Alien Anthology & Back To The Future Trilogy on 10/26 wins in my mind.

Of course, get back to me when the Star Wars boxset comes out next year.

The unbeatable combination would be all six Star Wars films and the Indy Trilogy on the same day.

Yeah, but then I doubt Lucasfilm wants to kill people. But damn I would die happy.

Same here. Give me Jaws the same day and I might have a stroke.

some contenders for sure although "Apocalypse Now" isn't old enough to meet my criteria of pre-1970.
Casablanca originally came out in Dec of 2008 so I wouldn't count that other day anyway.
In other words, Casablanca did not come out originally on the same day as GWTW.
Each of the 4 films today came out for the first time on blu-ray today.

ok -- even discarding Apocalypse Now (silly IMO), Psycho and Seven Samurai are far superior to the 4 released today. Heck, even one of them is better than those 4 combined!

i stand corrected about GWTW and Casablanca -- those were the single disc versions, they had earlier release dates for collector editions

Was it the greatest? I dunno. Am I happy with my Bridge on the River Kwai purchase? Absolutely.
