Default JAWS Ride closing at Universal Orlando

Well I'm not a happy bunny today. Universal will be closing the Jaws ride in the Orlando theme park on January 2nd 2012. How can they get rid of probably their most famous and sucessful film ride. The first ever film to cross the $100 million at the box office.
Universal dropped the ball a few years ago when they got rid of King Kong too. I'm all for revamping these rides after 20 years, but don't get rid of them. I expect they will put in some crappy newer movie type of ride (Transformers roumored). I'll miss Bruce!

I wasn't happy about Back to the Future closing too. I guess Universal Studios needs to keep up with more modern films for the current generation.

i read today that there's a 20 year revamp on these rides.

At Universal Hollywood the big news today was that they're bringing in the Harry Potter rides and doing away with Terminator 2.

Wait! WHAT!?!?!?

NOOOOOOO!

I've heard US Orlando has gone to sh*t over the past couple of years.

No more Nickelodeon Studios. No more BTTF Ride. No more King Kong. No The Birds attraction. Now no more JAWS!!!

What's next? Banishing the Universal Monsters? No more back lot tours?

I think the one thing that terrified me was the flames. It was a little too close for comfort as a kid.

It's about a 2 hour drive. I haven't been to Universal Studios since probably 2005 but I like to go again. I'm not fond of Universal Adventure Islands. I just don't like roller coaster rides. It makes me

I was just there about a year or so ago sad to hear that they had closed this down along with Back to the Future already being closed when we were there. Did The Simpsons ride replace Back to the Future? I wouldn't be surprised if E.T and Terminator are next oh well at least they still have Marvel town I thought that was pretty cool.

I live about 40 mins from Universal, I'll have to go there again before it closes to see if I can get some memorabillia from it.

That's too bad, my favorite ride was a roller coaster on that side, Dueling Dragons.

The jaws ride is old, slow, and outdated. I personally would have preferred if they updated the ride completely to allow more passengers through more quickly and in greater comfort. It's no fun standing in a line with a few hundred people when it's nearly 100 degrees outside. I don't want them to abandon the old classics, but leaving a ride exactly the same for twenty years probably isn't a good idea either.

Marvel town can be updated too. I hate the spider-man ride, I couldn't walk straight for a week after that one. The hulk ride is good, though. With all the new film material from marvel, they could make that a very popular section of the park if handled properly.

The biggest issue my family had, was the lack of entertainment options for the younger children and the extremely long lines in any ride they could go on.

My wife, brother-in-law, and I went to Universal Studios a few years ago. The Jaws ride was by far the highlight of my trip. It's so sad they are closing it down, it's the best ride in the park!

just read about this--another pathetic totally misguided decision by these park owners.
sure, they need to reflect current Hollywood dreck, but that doesn't mean close all the classic rides at the same time.
really depressing news.
