Default Samsung BDP 1600 Bricked after firmware update?

This morning I performed an update. After it seemed finished it just hung with the screen reading "Net Up". This remained unchanged for an extended period.

Eventually, I unplugged the unit, waited and plugged it back in. Now the power will toggle, the tray will open/close and I get the launch screen on my TV, but it hangs before it gets to the Blockbuster/Netflix/etc. buttons and no other functions will work.

I'm open to suggestions. Thanks in advance!

Mine was not bricked after 2.13, but it wants to "upgrade to the newer 2.12 which has never been available for direct download. I am looking into a newer player since this thing never works properly. I like the look of the new oppo myself.

I managed to get through to their 800 number last night and they agreed to send me a UPC label. I'm sending it off tomorrow and I'll get it back in a couple weeks de-bricked and with the firmware in place. It was a huge pain getting the serial number -- on the player it's near illegible, but once I got it off the box everything was easy. I highly recommend giving them a call just to see. I'd still get another player, I think, but this becomes a decent back up.

That said, it was a nice coincidence that the Oppo 93 became available yesterday. I've been waiting and it's perfect timing. Weirdly, the Oppo should be here Thursday, well before the Samsung's fixed (according to FedEx, anyway -- I'll believe it when I see it). The Samsung will either be put in another room or, more likely, gifted away.
