THE NIGHTINGALE is both richer narratively and more harrowing, and that’s no front on THE BABADOOK. The latter is a great debut, but THE NIGHTINGALE is truly a next-level experience.

The Babadook is probably the more exciting film, but The Nightingale is far far more profound and carefully curated with a level of restraint that elevates Kent up to the next level.

If she can combine the level of invention and creativity seen in The Babadook with the more restrained and focused piece like The Nightingale, I’m sure she’ll be considered with some of the best working today.
