Default Control PS3 With TV Remote

Hello,

I was wondering if there is any way to control the PS3 with my TV remote? I have a PS3 slim by the way, and my TV is a Sharp Aquos LC-40E67UN if that matters.

I am also aware of the PS3 Media Remote they want you to buy. If you get this, can you control your TV with that?

I know the PS3 doesn't have a certain sensor in it that allows this type of thing in general, but I was wondering if anything in paticular works.

Thanks for the help.

in the past ive used the nyko blu wave ( i think thats what its called) remote. its a standard ir remote that uses a usb dongle to communicate with the ps3. what ive done was use the usb dongle then used to the nyko remote to program my receivers remote.

What you need is the 2.0 version of the official PS3 remote, which comes in a blue package with a Netflix logo on it. It's called the Media / Blu-ray remote, while the original Bluetooth-only remote comes in a red package.

The new version just came out recently, and it's designed to work with most TV brands so it should be fine. It basically has a bluetooth connection for PS3 and an IR for the TV and any Sony brand receiver.

THANK YOU!!

I am going to look into that right now. I hope that it is a nice remote, because my TV remote (that this thing will presumably replace) I really like.

Also, can it control a VCR as well? I know this sounds like a silly question only 9 hours away from 2012, but I do still have a VCR hooked up to my TV. I like VHS tapes, it's just the way I am. My TV remote is able to control this; so if I am replacing it with a PS3 remote, then it would be nice if that remote could control the VCR.

Thanks
