Backdraft on PS3 - Blu-ray Forum

so i picked up backdraft from walmart the other night, put it into my ps3, and nothing came up on the xmb. so i took it back for an exchange tonight. same thing. tried it on my lg bd555c and it was fine. ps3 is up to date. tried setting to auto play and anothing. tried Cinderella man BD (universal aswell) and it was fine. first time my ps3 hasnt loaded something.

any ideas on how to get it working, or what the problem is?

Could be the lens getting dirty or other issues with the PS3. But other discs will have this issue too. You might want to try loading up a few other discs first to be sure its not your PS3.

If you said it took a while to load or sat at a black screen, I would have said turn off your BDLive or Internet access. You might want to try that, but that doesn't sound to be a problem. Since you can't even see the disc load at the xmb.

Drunken Master, Cinderella Man, Futurama S6, Case 39, tried those last night and all worked fine. It's one of those discs that u can kinda see thru, so i thot it might be that, but cinderella man was same thing.

1st things that would have come to my mind are Firmware & BDLive thingy disabled...

That, and the sheer amount of PS3 lasers that seem to be dying lately. My buddy runs a repair shop and said they have been coming in non stop with dead lasers.

firmware is up to date, tried with internet disabled (and unplugged) and same thing. Could it really be the laser if just this one movie wont play? i own almost 400 bds and this is first time one hasnt loaded. other movies work fine.

e: it is one of those discs that u can kinda see thru, but so is cinderella man
