Damaged collection - Help! - Blu-ray Forum

Sorry if this is the wrong section, but I'm not that experienced in tread making. If a Mod can move it to the right section of the forum, that'd be great. A couple weeks back, when it was getting really rainy here in SoCal, the rainfall started to sep through the ceilings. I went out that afternoon, unaware of this until I was home. I left a couple of my DVDs out on a table, and when I came back they were drenched beyond repair. I was wondering if I could trade for or if some one could donate their artwork inserts.

-Alien Anthology's box isn't noticeable, and neither is the book holding the discs, but they could definitely be in better shape.
-Sherlock Holmes' artwork isn't totaled.
-Slumdog Millionaire is worse than Sherlock Holmes'
-Fantastic Mr. Fox basically doesn't exist. The rain tore it to shreds.
-The slipcover for Gladiator is pretty messed up.
-By Brakhage is destroyed unfortunately.

I know some people make their own custom artwork or throw away their slipcovers, so if you could trade or donate the original artwork/slipcovers, it would be greatly appreciated.

I have a copy of Last of the Mohicans, Die Hard Anthology and a "Blu-ray Essentials" slipcover for Snatch that I can trade for. I also use Pay-Pal. Thanks to anyone who can help out.

Have you checked with the studios? They may be willing to send you replacement covers.

I doubt it, because it's not their fault. Now granted it's not the OP's fault either, but just because of water damaged I don't think the studios would be prepared to send out new copies unless it was a fault at the time of purchase.

Being in the UK and not owning any of those titles I have little use here, but I'm sure there's someone who will help.

Thanks, I'm considering contacting Criterion since they're customer service is reportedly good and they did case replacement for titles a few years back.

My cover art was damaged for a bunch of Lionsgate titles a couple years back. I sent an e-mail to them and 2 days later, I got all the slipcovers I asked for in the mail in 100% mint condition and I didn't pay a penny.

I think it just all depends on the studio and if the person working there decides to be generous or not. It's worth a shot!

I've had bad luck with studios, however, I contacted a Blockbuster and they throw away their artwork from time to time so if you're nice to them, and catch the right person, they might be able to help.

No one is saying it's their fault but it doesn't hurt to ask if there's a way to get replacement covers (you can even offer to pay for them; I'm sure the cost would be minimal). However, sometimes the studios offer to ship out an item (case, cover, slip, full fledge replacement) for free.

Not sure there is a whole lot you can really do here except download custom artwork from the Custom Cover art thread, first page. But I do know that you are likely to get a replacement case for the Brakhage set because Criterion has amazing customer service. Expect to pay a few dollars for the shipping though.

I'm sorry this happened though. I would really hate it if something like that happened to my collection.
