Hi there!

I thought I would start this dedicated thread for all my blu-ray.com freinds out there so we can discuss some our favorite things:
such ad films, music, HT gear or WHATEVER.

I love all kinds of films and music, plus I like other things as well (like books, good food, classy ladies, etc.

Well, I'm gonna watch Uncle Buck on blu tonite. I'll let you know what I think at a later post.

come on, join in and let the good times roll!

I thought this was a discussion about the Billy Jack movies themselves.

Totally love the first one. The others are okay too. "I'm going to take this foot and hit you on that side of your face...and there's not a damn thing you can do about it." Love it.

Haha.

well anyway I'm off to work, but will be picking up Salt and Easy A before my shift. I'll PM the two blu's at Target using the BB ad, plus I have two 5.00 coupons to boot (one for each film).

Might get "The Town" as well, is that one any good?, I did enjoy Affleck's "Gone Baby Gone"

The Town blows away GBG, IMNSHO. If you liked Gone..., you'll probably enjoy The Town even more.

BillyJack, how do you feel about John Mayall's albums? Just today, I listened to Bluesbreakers, Laurel Canyon, and Turning Point. (I also have Crusade/Hard Road, but I haven't listened to them recently.)

I think I'd give Bluesbreakers a 4.5/5. Laurel Canyon I'm a bit undecided on... it's in the 4-4.5/5 range, but "Fly Tomorrow" is a remarkable album closer.

Turning Point is like a 5-and-a-half/5.

OK, I have two more important questions (because I trust your taste on all matters).

1. How good is Patton really?

2. Miles Davis. The last time I went through large sections of his discography, I put Miles Smiles, Round About Midnight, Kind of Blue, and In a Silent Way (which is absolutely my favorite) on my iPod. I specifically remember thinking Sketches of Spain was kinda meh.
How do you feel about Miles, and what are the albums I don't want to miss?

EDIT: Also, I'm giving *****es Brew another listen as we speak. This is pretty sick through the first 20-minute track (damn Bennie Maupin is killing it on bass clarinet!).

Patton is a great film, the only gripe I have with the blu is there is way to much DNR (digital noise reduction) used in the transfer. The extras are on a standard DVD.

Love Miles Davis too, pretty much all the Columbis stuff is good, as well as the Blue Note stuff.

I'm also a big fan of John Coltrane.

Too vague! How do you feel about Jack Johnson? Milestones? Birth of the Cool? Or for a more obscure one, Nefertiti?

Yeah my favorite Coltranes are A Love Supreme and My Favorite Things. The first few notes about 40sec into ALS just MELT me every time. Along with the six notes at the climax of Jimi Hendrix's "Little Wing" they are my favorite notes in all of music!

I few of my more obscure John Coltrane LPs are Blue Train and Lush Life.

Currently I'm listening to BBM's "Around The Next Dream" (Jack Bruce, Ginger Baker, Gary Moore) Has a great Cream-like sound.

just listen to "City Of Gold"http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=4Re3U...eature=related

Sad that Moore just passed away on the 7th. RIP Gary Moore.

Not a diehard fan, but certainly enjoy some of his tunes. Also his cameo in You Dont Mess With The Zohan was hilarious!

Gonna listen to some Roy Buchanan this afternoon.

Gonna also try to watch a film before "nighty-night"

One of my favorite love songs (appropriate for a day like today) is a Dave Matthews song:
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=GySJ1bHPsS0

Saw him live one time three years ago. The Allman Brothers were the opening act () and did not really impress me with their set, but Dave was a hell of a showman and played a massive 2.5ish-hour set ending with Jimi Hendrix's "All Along the Watchtower." He also released a concert album of this show (Live at Piedmont Park), so I relive the experience from time-to-time. There are some really good songs on the set (One Sweet World/Two Step/Cornbread/Don't Drink the Water. A few songs later, Greg Allman joins the stage to play "Melissa." There's also a really good rendition of "The Dreaming Tree" and "Warehouse."

Two Step

(btw, some would say Bob Dylan's "All Along the Watchtower" )

found this rarity on youtube:http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=pTsvs-pAGDc Jake Holmes' original version of "Dazed and Confused" (written and recorded BEFORE The Yardbirds and Led Zep did it, yet Holmes did'nt get a songwriting credit, just Jimmy Page.
