French releases worth grabbing?

I'm going to order Heaven's Gate from France but would lie to ark advantage of the high shipping costs and get a few other titles. What're some great releases from France that haven't been reviewed but are really worth getting and are English friendly.

For the record, my favourite types of films are typically horror, film-noir (and any edgy earlier cinema), and I'm very open to films that feature beautiful cinematography and a great soundtrack. I'm open to any suggestions though.
