Default Fuggly Machines

Why oh why! for such an exciting entry into the world of HD players are they so ugly?
All of these machines, look like a trip back to the beta Video Recorder I owned years ago.
Could they have not put a little more imagination into the outward design. Yes as well as the functionality, I do care what my AV gear looks like!!!
The only one which stands out thus far, is the Sharp.

I think a lot of us will agree that these 1G players are fugly. I actually like the look of the Pioneer best. IMO it's the best looking choice of what we're getting so far.

the Mitsubishi one isn't so bad....when you look at the others....

the Sharp one is the sleekest and the Sony one wouldn't be bad if it didn't take me back 10 years....

I personally think the BDP-s1 from sony looks awesome. I'm tired of the cheap ass tiny dvd player look. I want something substantial looking and feeling. These new small dvd players look like they'll move by hitting the eject button. These small cheapy looking dvd players is the main reason i bought the 5 disc sony upconvert.

Go take a look at the Sony Style store near you, they should have a demo of their new BR player there. I saw it and was amazed, not only by the picture but the build quality of the player.

I agree!

The Sammy looks decent. The Sony looks good to me and the Elite looks great, like I would expect.

For me, build quality is as important as anything else.

Aesthetics are the cherry on top.

I saw the Samsung today(just got it in at work), it was very nice looking and about the size of a dvd player 2-3 years ago. I was quite impressed with the speed/size and upconvert capability of the samsung bdp1000
