Just FYI, the R-rated version is cut in Germany, so this is likely to be the "uncut" (in Germany) U.S. R-rated version and not the Director's Cut that was on U.S. LaserDisc.

The Cut and Uncut versions were already released inside Germany. This could possibly be something different.

lol...i don't care about the uncut version. People on the interwebs have been going nuts about it being cut.

That's probably the case, but I hope not.

Yeah, it doesn't say "uncut".

EDIT: That is the cut release that was just released a few days ago. The uncut preorder is here:

Hopefully this will be the unrated version? My German DVD (released by Kinowelt in 2005) is the unrated version, but that one also contains an audio commentary by Wes Craven and Kevin Williamson.

Not quite the whole story. Both the R-rated cut (labeled 'uncut') and a further-cut version are already available on BD in Germany. The plot thickens: There is an upcoming "remastered" German Scream trilogy set (Source) (Source) which will allegedly right some wrongs from the first German set (Scream 2 was cropped to 1.78:1, for example). It does bear mentioning the true uncut (director's cut) version showed up on German dvd (as well as in Korea/Japan), albeit with a reportedly very crappy transfer. Basically it remains to be seen - could just be a standalone release of the R-cut from the new remastered set. However Studio Canal + remaster in of itself could mean something very good even if this is "just" the R cut.

Edit: Here is the 'uncut' (R) release already available - as you can see the cover art differs slightly from this new one: http://shop.dtm.at/product_info.php?products_id=41861

According to http://www.schnittberichte.com the new release may contain the unrated Vesion.

The FSK18 rating is just because of some extras on the disk. The movie itself is after not longer being indiziert approved FSK16...

The above linked "gekürzte Fassung" (cutted version) BD at this link http://www.amazon.de/Scream-Gek%C3%8...8385661&sr=1-3 was released October the 7th in 2010.. last year, not a few days ago.

There seem to come a trilogy box set with the new BD and a remastered Scream 2 Version, also single Disc Editions.
