You pretty much wrapped it up, but you know the HD-DVD guys are going to start a fight... no matter how much you ask them no to.

I'd ordinarily help you out friend.

But I just earned my first ban at High Def Digest for kicking the stupid.

Well Said.

Those who suppot HDDUD always praise the extra features, but IMO who the hell cares about special features... honestly, I just want to see the movie in pristine 1080p quality and great sound.

Sure I guess some people want a little special features, but I dont agree with people only purchasing a movie due to the extensive extra features, or not purchasing due to the lack of them.

If I wanted some online content about a movie or something (Like the HDDUD) ill go upstairs to my computer, sit in my chair , and then find whatever it is on the internet. I might also get a cold drink.

It all comes down to the PQ and AQ.

Also a guy on hidef talked about how HDDUD has 'ALL THE GREAT MOVIES' haha that comment just makes me laugh. The only titles I really want are Batman Begins and V for Vendetta, and they are coming out on Blu Ray eventually so I can wait.

How could you not understand someone picking HD DVD? It's ABOUT THE MOVIES.
Same guy later in his post.

You can talk numbers on paper all you want. You can talk bandwith. But 300 hd dvd has picture in picture blu screen. blu-ray does not. Upcomeing HD DVD of harry potter with have picture in picture interviews.
Which is it? About movies? About PiP that may be watched once.

I applaud your tenacity but I can't join you in making an argument against those who are unable to. People who post on forums have made up their mind. You know. . . the "early, early adopters".

I will not join the forum, so please can someone ask the Project Hydra guy a question for me? Why he has said nothing to argue the points except to accuse the poster of being a shill? This is the problem with both sides in this war, instead of putting some thought into the question you should just attack the poster.

buckshot,

I tried to state my technical opinions of the two formats on AVS on banddwidth of codecs, but I don't think anyone understands. They're still saying something about eyeballing the video and they think it's 'good enough', I think as long as they think it's good enough, there's nothing wrong with that.

Just like that scene in Monty Python's Life of Brian, "Alms for an ex Leper", if someone is perfectly happy with something, trying to do what he doesn't want just because you have a different opinion may not really make him happier.

It's really a question of perspective.

an update. i went and checked these threads again today.

what i discovered was that there are some very good points about the shortcoming of blu ray. there are also a lot of knowledgeable people who support hd dvd and can have an honest debate without getting personal. i have begun to respect their decisions more than i did before. i do not share their viewpoint but all the same they made their decision and some have very good reasons. but what else did i learn? that some people prefer to attack the poster instead of the points they have made. this is also true here sometimes. so i will now be one of the people that will welcome people of varying opinions here and not cry troll and run them out with torches and pitchforks. another thing i learned is that a lot of people at HDD and AVS seem to believe that the website truly is an hd dvd exclusive website and are offended even angeres by anything on the contrary.

if a website is nuetral then you should expect people from both sides. if you are at hd-dvd.com or blu-ray.com those should remain sanctuaries from trolling. thats my personal rule.
