Thumbs up Box Office Showdown: Thor vs Fast Five

Fast Five started the Summer movie season on a fast note scoring a record $86.2 million opening weekend. Now the super hero Thor steps up to the challenge. Things and getting heated and let your opinion count . Who will win the 5/6 - 5-8 box office weekend? How much will the top box office movie gross? PM me with ideas you might have for the weekly box office polls

5/20 for POTC, which will be huge...followed by Kung Fu Panda 2 and The Hangover #2 on May 26. May 2011 will be the biggest May (box office) in history.

I will have a busy rental autumn it seem to me Since most of these wil lbe mostly 3D releases in theaters, I doubt I will get to see many of them during the summer

thor is going to do this weekend what Fast Five did last weekend.....score a huge opening.

Thor is def. going north of $80 million this weekend.

on a side note, i'd be really surprised if any 1 movie wins in back to back weeks @ any point this summer w/how many awesome movies that are coming out!!

This! So many movies starting one after the other, it might be a hard summer for repeat business.

Heeey you switched the poll for the thor weekend only :P

hmmm this is a tough one..... hmmm i think the great reaction from Fast5 will bring in New viewers that may not have seen it.... and since the first weekend was soo busy peopple who havent gone to see it yet will be clamoring

hmmm....... hmm..... Thor doesn't have as wide appeal.... hmmmm......

i think Thor will come out.... but only by a little... maybe even a Tie.

Is the poll a "Wins By" or "Wins and Grosses"

if its Wins By id have it @ far less than 30mill

I think Fast Five will drop into 2nd place, with THOR taking the top spot with about 50 million.

I meant THOR would win with 50+ million...my vote is erroneous. Any way to change it?

It's a work in progress . Every week we will have a new thread, with a new poll...the polls might be a little different as well depending on what you guys prefer .

I think Thor wins by a wide margin. I'm not sure if Mother's Day will have much affect on the box office, but I see Thor grossing around $70 million and Fast Five grossing around $30 million. Fast & Furious suffered a 62% drop in it's opening weekend, so I'd expect a large drop for Fast Five.

Thor is going to win easily, as I don't think Fast 5 begs anything of Replay value. Thor is that big superhero film that comes out around this time, so I'm guessing $60-$70 mill, however Fast Five will easily make another $30 mill this weekend also.

I'm interested in how Priest will perform, it seems to be on that dumping weekend that nothing good comes out on (Speed Racer, Robin Hood)

Thor will easily smight fa5t with $80÷ mil, like foggy said fa5t doesn't have replay value and is 20mins to long and will have a big drop in the second weekend like the last one.

I predict Thor is going to make a ton this weekend. I lot of people are Marvel fans who aren't into the Fast & Furious movies, plus alot of parents will bring their kids to see Thor as well. I voted Thor winning with $50 - 79.9. I didn't vote Thor winning with over $80 mil because I'm also considering that Thor is a lesser known Marvel character, so that could affect things too.
