Default Mitsubishi 73 Inch DLP Anyone?

I'm checking out the Mitsubishi 73 inch DLP TVs. The price has really dropped and it seems like they can be had for around 2900 dollars. My 5 year old 65" Mits is getting a bit old, time for a refresh

I have been looking online and don't see a lot of reviews, but have read some comments about LOUD fans that kick on while watching movies that distract from the movies.

Does anyone have these TVs that can confirm the issue? Any comments in general about these TVs?

I was looking at the Toshiba models of similar size ( I know, they are the enemy!), but they seemed to have dropped the big screens +70".

Thanks in advance.

I have been looking at the 73734 myself. It has great specs: 1080p, 3 HDMI 1.3 inputs, x.v.Color, Deep Color, and Dark Detailor. I can get this bad mama-jamma for about $2500.
I have not heard about any problems with fan noise though.
I love Mitsubishi! I think they make a great TV.

Can't help you there mate, sorry. I bought my 65 inch Mit at the end of last year at a nice price of 1500 bucks awesomeness lol I would assume the fans could be the same, but not sure, they are quiet they do kick in from time to time but not loud enough to be distracting. just my .02.

Out of all the tv's i looked at in store in the last few months, I was set on getting the Mitsu DLP. After more extensive research i eventually went with the new sony that just started shipping. If not the sony, i would have bought the Mitsu DLP.

I would vote against it.

I have a 65" Mitsu DLP and it has given me nothing but problems. I purchased it in February and already have had to have the lamp replaced. And even with a replaced lamp I still get the "TV will shut down, check air flow" prompt every once in awhile. Customer service sent me a new one free of charge but told me I may be switching the channels too often as that wears out the lamp. They claim its good for around 4,000 hours which should be about 2 years. I barely got 6 months.

Its picture is amazing but it is a pain in the ass.

I'm currently thinking in investing in a Sony Bravia.

i would recommend that you personally see this mitsu next to other PTV's. Alot of tv's sound great on paper etc but recently the mitsu's have failed to actually provide good quality images, reliability.

10 years ago they were extremely good for the time. Also dont listen to sales people's pitch's on the mitsu's. they pay around 8% avg commission. others would be like 1-3 so they try and sell mitsu's alot.
