The Blu-ray.Com Community Top 20 Films of the 2000's (Please Read First Post)

On the wake of the top films in 2010 results we are now gonna do a top 20 films of the 2000's. List your top 20 films that were released domestically in the US between 2000-2009 whether it was a wide release or a limited release or even a direct to video release. As long as the film was released in the US between Jan 1st 2000 to Dec 31st 2009 then it qualifies. Make your list based on what u feel are the best/favorite or a combination of both or whatever movie u feel should make your top 20 list of the 2000's. Its all up to u!

How does it work? It's easy. You come up with a list of what you think are the Top 20 Films of the 2000's. Based on how they place on your list, the film will receive a certain amount of points. The Top 15 films on your list will be scored accordingly:



1. 15 Points
2. 14 Points
3. 13 Points
4. 12 Points
5. 11 Points
6. 10 Points
....
12. 4 Points
13. 3 Points
14. 2 Points
15. 1 Point

Every film placed after the 15th spot will also receive 1 point. So essentially, you only have to rank the Top 15 while putting the remaining 5 in no particular order.

RULES
1. You may base your list on best/favorites films of the 2000's (2000-2009) or however it works for you. To me best/favorites go hand in hand for the most part. It doesn't matter how bad the film may be perceived by everyone else this is your opinion only so dont be afraid to list what you feel you want to list!

2. Please do not make multiple list. I know as u see films people want to update their list and create a whole new list but that will make it to hard to tally the points. So when u want to add a new film to your list or just simply change your list just edit your original list. U can edit your list all the way up to the deadline.

3. Do NOT put multiple films at the same ranking. Don't put 3 films at the number one spot then start the list at 4 following it. Put only ONE film at each rank, or I won't count your list.

4. Since this is for fun and discussing films should be fun, be respectful of each other. If somebody has a film you think sucks at number 1, who cares? The point of the thread is to find out what the community as a whole thinks is the top film of the 2000's.

5. Deadline: February 22nd, 2011 12am Pacific Time. That gives us 3 weeks to create a list which should be plenty of time. I wont take any lists after this. So make sure you get your list in before then.

My bet is there will be a few key movies like the Dark Knight for example that will be on many lists. But other wise this will have a ton of different movies. If I can make up a list I will post it.

We have very different taste in movies. Very few of those movies would be in my top twenty... in fact, some of them I actually strongly dislike (Seven Pounds?). I did like The Pursuit of Happiness, The Departed, and The Dark Knight, though.

I'll get there eventually. I've never been much for ranking films, because depending on what I'm in the mood to watch a particular day it could change. I could make my list now and make drastic changes every day based on what I'm in the mood for on that particular day.

5. The Assassination of Jesse James by the Coward Robert Ford
6. Donnie Darko
7. Lord of the Rings: The Return of the King (all three belong on the list, but I don't feel like letting the trilogy take up three spots on my list)
8. The Bourne Identity (All three belong, but I'm not letting trilogies take up so much space)
9. Moon
10. The Prestige
11. No Country for Old Men
12. The Dark Knight
13. The Departed
14. Up
15. Into the Wild
16. The Wrestler
17. Wall-E
18. The Incredibles
19. Finding Nemo
20. The Life Aquatic with Steve Zissou

The problem with this list is that there are a lot of movies that I've seen and know that I liked and can't remember them quite well enough to compare them. If I actually wanted to make this list any good I'd go year by year and rewatch movies that I need to be refreshed on, but I'm not going to bother. This will probably change a lot, I bet I forgot a bunch of stuff.
