For me I've had a few:
-Midnight opening of Star Wars Episode III. There is nothing like being surrounded by fans of the series. It makes the atmosphere so different, its amazing. People in costumes, quoting the movies, and just having a great time. We even played Star Wars trivia with a bunch of fans before the movie. Just a great experience. -Grindhouse. Just everything in general about that movie made it a fun experince in theaters multiple times. ![]() -Back to the Future 25th Anniversary showing in San Francisco. That was an experience. People who really loved and embraced the movies, even bringing their kids who had never seen it before so they could experience it on the big screen. Seeing those kids experience was just awesome. Big smiles on their faces. At the end of the movie, one of the kids looked at their dad and said "can we see it again?!" It was hilarious. ![]() -Last weekend at Kevin Smith's Red State show in LA. That was an experience I'll never be able to have again. Having the whole cast in attendance (minus John Goodman unforunately...), Kevin Smith introducing the film, a Q&A after, and the most insanely fun audience I've ever seen a movie with. People cheering, gasping, yelling things at the characters. It was an incredible event. I loved it. ![]() Last edited by Walts Ghost; 04-14-2011 at 10:25 PM. |

Oh, I could tell you stories of the old Boston 24-Hour Sci-Fi Festival...
(Which is exactly what its name implies--When you're trapped in a college town theater at 2am with literally nowhere to go except to watch old 50's scifi epics and 70's cult-scifi, we claim to have invented MST3K for REAL. ![]() Our most legendary moment came when they showed film prints of old live 50's "Space Ranger" broadcasts, sponsored by Chex cereal and/or Hershey's chocolate-- The adventures would be interrupted by commercials showing the Chex cereals spinning by on a turntable (there were only two brands back then)--And by about the third time the commercial was shown, the audience began chanting along with the cereals spinning by: "Wheat Chex...Rice Chex...Wheat Chex..." For the next sixteen or twenty hours of that evening (and ever since), spontaneous Tastes-great-less-filling wars would erupt all night between one half of the theater and the other: "Wheat Chex!" "Rice Chex!" "WHEAT CHEX!!' "RICE CHEX!!" ![]() One episode had the characters doing the live commercials--"And now, here's something for all you girl Space Rangers out there": The Hershey's EZ-Bake Oven kit. The "BOOO!!" that came up from that entire audience was priceless. ![]() Never found any audience like that in the mainstream, except for that one night when I'd caught a downtown sneak-screening of the 1980 Flash Gordon: Imagine an audience not prepared for what they were going to see, but getting into the spirit of it quickly... ![]() |

I saw a midnight showing of The Wrath of Khan a few years ago and at the point where Shatner clenches his fists, stares at the heavens (no easy feat while in a cave, mind you) and roars 'KHAAAAAAAN' in all his Shatneresque over-emoting glory there were a lot of nervous, embarassed chuckles which quickly built into unabashed laughter as everybody seemed to realize at once we were laughing with each other over a shared guilty pleasure.

I went to go see Pulp Fiction at the New Beverly in Hollywood a couple of weeks ago and it was by far the most fun I've had the at the movies. The crowd was excellent, clapping and cheering at all the right moments, and looked and sounded like they enjoy movies. It was awesome.

Pretty much the same reactions from the audience at the Exorcist re-release/special edition. It was great to experience that movie in a movie theater. Although I doubt it was anywhere near as great as when it was originally released. Must have been something else.

Watching the newest Star Trek movie was sweet, as it was a few days earlier than everyone else
![]() Kick-Ass, just because my friends were sick to death of me hyping it up (you guys got lucky) and walked out as pumped as I was ![]() Scott Pilgrim, because in the middle of the film my friend (he's called P) did a huge fist bump that exploded into a supernova at the start of the twins battle. ![]() Iron Man 2, same reason, P geek-gasumed at the sight of Capt. A's shield and Thor's Hammer.:geek: Tron: Legacy, another one of my friends, (He has no smart nickname, but he is Scottish) kept praising Jeff Bridges and Booing "fake" Bridges throughout the film. We also sang along the 80's tunes in Flynn's Arcade ![]() Knowing, hilariously bad film that me and friends were just laughing at all the way through, now we try to watch all new Nic Cage films regardless ![]() The Men Who Stare At Goats, because it broke down twice and we got free tickets ![]() Inglorious Basterds, because I was too young and it was advanced screening, one of the member of staff came up to me and asked me to [Show spoiler]

Actually the best time i had on a cinema was watching all alone Sleuth.
Can't stand people talking, eating or doing whatever noise at the movies... Altho, i much prefer my HT, sure its not an imax, but i do enjoy alot more the films watching them at home like if i was in empty theater ![]() |
