United Kingdom Country Strong -- 18th July 2011

Title: Country Strong
Release date: 18th July 2011
Distributor: Sony Pictures Home Ent. (UK)
Source: BVA

More UK-BD pre-release shenanigans (courtesy of SPHEUK and their utterly bizarre BD pre-release strategy(?) for the UK).

Up until a couple of weeks ago Country Strong was listed on the BVA's website as coming out in July 2011 on both DVD (retail and rental) and BD (rental only).

And then 2-3 weeks ago the BVA listing for the BD (i.e. the rental only BD) version of Country Strong mysteriously disappeared; but then today I spotted the above listing on the BVA's website, for a retail/rental version of Country Strong on BD.

Country Strong has never been available to pre-order on BD in the UK (AFAIK), whereas the DVD version has been available to pre-order for some weeks now.

Still little sign of: Inside Job, Get Low, Please Give, Legends of the Fall, Das Boot, Cable Guy, Boyz n the Hood, Jumanji, Zathura, Stuart Little, Stuart Little 2, or Guns of Navarone.

I actually never saw Please Give, Get Low or Inside Job at the cinema, because I (rather stupidly) thought that Sony would be releasing all three films on BD in the UK (and so I'd get to see them that way); perhaps I should have got a clue. But then again, perhaps it's SPHEUK that should get a bloody clue regarding their preconceptions about what kind of films they reckon will or won't sell on BD in the UK.

I enjoyed this movie a lot, I was planning on picking up the Region A release but might wait it out.
