Jane Eyre is also being released in Canada by Alliance. I notice Amazon.ca currently has different graphics for the Canadian blu-ray cover (attached). It's based on the theatrical poster, which I like much better than the graphic for the US blu-ray. Does anyone know if the Canadian release will indeed have the graphic similar to the theatrical poster? Or, is the graphic at Amazon.ca not final?

(Given that Alliance's releases are usually practically identical to the US releases of the same films, I doubt the cover will be different in Canada, but it's always nice to dream, right?)

I know some of you know the studios really well and the mock up shows no slipcover. Can anyone confirm whether this will likely have one and it's just not pictured in the mock up or if it will likely not have one and look exactly like it does in the OP? Please help me with this. Thanks in advance.

I haven't seen this version yet, but I love this story... Can anyone recommend it. (A blind buy is planned)

Yes, I think it's a beautiful film and one of the best this year. The trailers made it look really bad to me, but I fell in love with the cinematography, the acting, music, etc.
It's superbly directed and very gothic. A lot of adaptations of Jane Eyre are sweeping romances, but this one tries to translate the gothic tone and darkness in Bronte's writing.

Unfortunately, it looks like it won't be less than $22.99 on release day, so it's a pass for now. Maybe a good sale around the holidays. Certainly not going to cause more pain in September and then October even if it drops a few dollars.

edit to add: If by some miracle, this is selling at $19.99 on release day somewhere I'll probably bite. We have a monthly budget we like to keep for music and movies each month and there's a little wiggle room because despite my love for Jodie Foster and the great reviews for Mel Gibson's performance, I don't have any desire to buy a movie about a man who is so depressed that he can only communicate with a puppet. So, with no Beaver, Jane Eyre would be my last purchase for the month, other than 2 catalogs I'm getting for less that $23 combined but were already paid for with credit.

If anyone hears of a deal on this, please post it. Thanks.

If anyone's interested Barnes & Noble has it on sale for $17.49, for today only. Plus you'll get a $5 gift card from them.

Thanks! That's a great deal when you take into consideration the $5 gift card.

Thanks. I've been waiting for a good day 1 deal on this. Picked this up and The Help paperback (now that I've seen the movie).

Bravo Alliance, you've finally done something right. I very much prefer the Canadian cover for this disc. Same content, better artwork imo.
@ BluPix This is confirmed because I now hold a copy in my hand. Cheers.

I wasn't really in the mood for a film like this tonight but decided to watch it anyway since I've been waiting to see it. I'm glad I did because I was immediately drawn in by the opening scenes. It has a beautiful, gothic look and great performances.

For those interested, in addition to the main director's commentary, there's an easter egg commentary by two friends of his (one of them directed the way too brief EPK featurettes) that can be accessed from the deleted scenes menu. Just keep hitting 'down' on your remote as you go through the list.

just picked this up at BB $26.99 down to $22 with a $5 rewards certificate! I consider this a great deal for one of the year's best films.

It should be on sale at BB for $22.99. I'd go back and get your $4.00
