United Kingdom Cloud Atlas - 17th June 2013

'Cloud Atlas' down for release on 17th June 2013 according to Sainsbury's Entertainment.

Did anyone catch this at the cinema? Had a pretty limited release in the UK. Not sure if I'm going to blind buy this.

I'm going to blind buy it, simply for the spectacle and risk associated with it. It's about time this received a (belated) release; hopefully it'll make its money back through home media, and more projects like this can get off the ground in the future.

I saw it at the cinema. It was very well made but I didn't understand much of it. I think a second viewing will definitely be beneficial - there's a lot going on and things to pick up on. It's a sprawling story spanning centuries and one watch just isn't enough to take it all in. Also, it's worth seeing to experience Tom Hanks' cockney accent!

I think I'll buy it as soon as it comes out and watch it again. Hopefully it'll make more sense a second time.

I'll get this but the book was just letters vomited onto the page by a far smarter person than me.

Brilliant film. I really didn't know what to expect going in - I loved the book and will always look forward to the Wachowskis come up with, despite any misteps they have made in the past. But it was such a delicate prospect that it could easily have turned into an expesive, silly folly.

And I'm sure some people will still see it that way - if you don't buy what's going on or if you fail to connect with the film and its tone then it will seem ridiculous. But it had me from the start and I loved it. Brave, original, ambitious and make will love, skill and craft. The almost-three hours flew by. Some segments pf the story are stronger than others and I can see why some would fine the actors crossing gender and race to play multiple roles distracting but I thought it worked fantastically - Hanks as an Irish gangster and Weaving in drag were part of a farcical tale and worked really well in that tone. Likewise, Weaving, Sturgess and Dancy playing Koreans look slightly off but it's a future-set tale where things are slightly off and, again, within that tone fits perfectly.

In short - it wont be for everyone and it's fully understandable. But, if it works for you, there's a chance it may really work for you.

A film that was excellent during my first viewing and after doing a bit of reading, was even better the second time. Will pick this up!

I loved this film, very ambitious and will get better on multiple viewings. Gonna wait to see how the UK version looks as the US is region free.

I'll wait until it drops a little in price before picking it up, I just don't think it'll be a film I'll get around to watching all that often.

Shame the poster art is so generic. But, after the mixed reception it got (along with the film being a hard sell) I can understand why they'd go with "TOM HANKS! HALLE BERRY!" for the cover.

Little bit cheaper - £14.99 - at Sainsburys.
