Default Mahatmas recent adventures in HIFI&OT

Maybe this is a late entry into the HT thread department influenced by DangeRuss possibly (let's not discount anything in this day and age ),but thought I'd set up a thread in my particular vein. It's mostly going to entail music (I'm leaning more and more towards jazz-the great Oscar Peterson comes to mind),but some of it refers to my other interests-like movies and books.BMy modest HT build has remained as it is for quite a few years now,and only thing I plan to do is reconfigure the speaker settings and add a curtain round my listening post to eliminate noise polution along with a carpet I plan to lay out.

Currently listening to a live recording by-surprise,surprise:Oscar Peterson.

Anyone got the limited edition by Miles Davis's Kind of blue on vinyl?Tempting, but 80$+ is kind of putting a financial damper on that purchase...Wonder if that recording is on SACD?

There's no problem with that around here, as most members bounce between the media quite frequently.

I just recently scored several crates of vinyl which included a few Oscar Peterson titles

Thanks Johnny.Think I'll explore the vinyl path som More this since Oscar Peterson has fast become my new favourite, and his Exclusively for my friends has been rereleased om both CD and vinyl, and while the vinyl box is abit expensive (around 240$ here in Norway) but have fallen in love with his playing, and he's å damn good composer too.

On the vinyl theme,am considering upgrading my needle to the ortho 2m black.Bit pricy, but Think I'll do it while my ears can hear the difference

Feel free to make suggestions om fine records.I'm far from well versed in the world of jazz among other categories.

Tata old chap. Thanks for stopping by

Editosted om my phone, and combine that with sausage Fingers,and...you get the idea

The Ortofon 2M Black is an outstanding cartridge and I'm sure you'll love it. I had one on my Nottingham for a while. The mid-range is not as warm as a Grado, but the upper end is really nicely detailed without sounding shrill.

Check out Art Tatum. Oscar was quite heavily influenced by his style ("stride") and it shows.

I've got some good speakers and set-up,but guess the sound quality in you tube don't really compare with CD's for the most part.Besides the couch is infinitely more comfortable to sit and listen on.Maybe I'm becomming grouchy as the years progress...

Thanks Solardadd.OT stands for Other Things. My life is filled to the brim with exotic interests which are far too numerous to mention in a thread title!Just kidding.Just a few interest like movies, music, books, motorcycling and photography (before you go off on a tangent,I'm not very good at it.Just enjoy looking at pictures and occationally taking them).Right now, music is at the forefront, but they jumble around depending on mood and time of year
