Region locked? That's a bummer and will also mean that I will just wait for a price drop or just buy a Japanese 3DS instead whenever I have the money for it. But I do wonder if the lock is only for 3DS titles or if it also applies to regular DS games for people like me who import from Japan since the regular DS is region-free.

It does suck But as far as DS titles go, I am sure they will play on any region 3DS. The DSi and DSiXL are both region locked, and regular DS games work fine. It's just DSi enhanced games, such as Pokemon Black and White that are region locked on there. So it would be like this:

DS games will work on any region 3DS

DSi enhanced games will only work with the same region 3DS

3DS games only work with the same region 3DS

As much as I'd like to get my hands on one of these. I'll have to pass in the meantime until game developers start announcing release dates for 3DS titles that aren't mediocre.

Shouldnt have to wait too long. June is most likely when Nintendo will confirm dates for all their 1st party titles they anounced, like mario kart zelda kid icarus etc. They could release one every 2 months from june and that would have them sorted for the rest of the year.

The only other two titles I want asap this year are MGS3 and Resi.

And I'm hoping that the 3rd title for the Pokemon Black and White games (Pokemon Grey?) Is a 3DS title, because we heard last January that the Pokemon company had a 3DS dev kit for quite some time. So fingers crossed they had a team working slowly on that alongside the DS titles. I don't fancy waiting another 3 years for the 6th gen games to appear.

A Wired report earlier this week claimed that the new handheld's eStore would not be ready on the day of release and would be added in later via a firmware update.

However, a spokesperson for Nintendo told Eurogamer today that although neither an internet browser nor the eStore would be included in the console's "initial firmware" they will be "updated on day one".

The eStore is where you'll be able to download DSiWare titles, retro Game Boy classics, game demos, trailers and new digital titles made exclusively for the 3DS.

From top to bottom.
  • The Famicom Disk System, the birthplace of The Legend of Zelda.
  • Another famicom add-on, a modem, was only ever released in Japan.
  • The Satellaview was an add-on for Japanese Super Nintendos that allowed users to download games over phone lines.
  • Following in the Famicom's footsteps, Nintendo released a Disk System for the Nintendo 64. It came too late, and was too expensive, to be of much use.
  • E-Reader, a Game Boy peripheral designed to scan cards and use them in video games.
  • On the left, the Wavebird, a wireless version of the original GameCube controller that seriously bulked up the pad (though, to be fair, this doesn't really count, as it's not an add-on, it's a built-in). On the right, the fat suit the console had to put on to play Game Boy Advance games on a TV set.

Roller Coaster Tycoon Coming to the 3DS in 2012!!

http://ds.ign.com/articles/119/1192772p1.html

Quote:
The franchise that had countless gamers glued to their computer screens is headed to Nintendo's newest handheld. Roller Coaster Tycoon 3D will be a brand new addition to the theme-park simulator series, available exclusively on the Nintendo 3DS.

The title will allow players to construct wild roller coasters and manage their park as best they can to draw the biggest crowds. It is the first time Roller Coaster Tycoon will be available on a handheld.

Roller Coaster Tycoon 3D will feature a new gameplay mode with special unlockable content. This Coaster Story mode will blend together tutorials and park challenges into a cohesive narrative. As you and your character progress, you'll unlock unique attractions, themes, amenities and more.

Players can also experience the game in a more classic setting using Park Sandbox mode, which allows them to jump right into the action of building their park from the ground up. RollerCoaster Tycoon 3D will be available in 2012. Stay tuned to IGN for more info on this upcoming title as it rolls in.

Has anybody ever used a screen protector for the bottom screen? I have never used one. But I was thinking about using one, since I have a pin size rough spot on my bottom screen(defect. I did not cause it.)

Are they easy to remove, in case I mess up, or dont like it? Do they effect gameplay with the touchscreen? AKA, harder for it to tell that your stylus is touching the screen?
