Default Should Radio Shack carry Hi-def video players.

Should Radio Shack carry Hi-def video players. Format war or not, they are going to be a hot item this Christmas. RS would be fools to pass this one up.

As anyone in the industry know, Blu-ray outsells HD-DVD at least 2 to 1. Some of us remember the days of people asking if RS carried HDTV's or any number of crap that RS just sat on their hands. They want to be a big player? Time to play with the big boys and drop that stupid little Nerf football.

I say they go for it. With competitive pricing, they have nothing to loose.

Option ommited from poll: Radio Shack!? What da hell are you smoking?

Not a question of why shouldn't they, but do they not carry it? Some would argue they are in a financial pit right now.

They almost never carry a hot new item when released. They have this "sit on our hands and wait" attitude.

If RS carried blu-ray exclusive, they suddenly are in line with the big boys. Plus they will carry the #1 HD players in the country. No one is going to return a blu-ray player when they see the movie selection.

Sony should cut a deal with them. It may not be much of a sales impact, but the exclusivity of it could remove a lot of consumer doubt.

Well, lots of people still have an anti-Radio Shack mentality. At least those who have worked there do. They are sort of seen as the armpit of electronics retail.

I suppose if the big box electronics retailers saw that it might be taken as a slight. "Whoa, RS decided to go with the best technology exclusively? What the heck are we doing selling this HD-DVD crap? They look better than us!"

Sure, retail is about money, but it is about image too. Image attracts buyers as well as price. I say it does more good, than harm.

If people can get the player they want for the same price as BB or CC, why drive 10 miles for it when RS is less than 5? Sure, they don't carry movies, but that never stopped them from selling steroes for lack of music, or VHS and DVD for lack of videos.

Ugh. Typical. They finally jump on the wagon and it's wrong one. No matter, they have forgotten how to advertise. No one will know. Having worked there I think that stock number means it is a web-only item. Might be able to have it sent to your local store, but that's about it.

Are regular ones in their place? Sure they got rid of them or were they just robbed again? Eh, they could be clearing space for the new holiday stuff.
