Default PS3 goes to black fix? Bttf related

Ok, so I just got my third PS3 the other week. And it's fine, I've finished inFamous 2 and Transformers: Dark of the Moon on it, and I've played Supersonic Acrobatic Rocket-Powered Battle Cars online against a friend, but I just went to start up Back to the Future Episode 3 and it went to black. I could hear the music from the menu but see nothing. I switched it off, tried the other episodes, and I'm getting the same problem, but not with Battle Cars (also from the network) or disc based games. Any advice?

Is there a way to delete a thread, because the problem just fixed itself? I just kept trying and eventually the picture was on, I didn't do anything.

You should contact a mod I think, and ask them to delete the thread.

HDMI cable goes straight to the TV from the PS3. This happens every so often with some downloaded games, but never with disc based games.

My wife's TV has a touchy HDMI cable. Sometimes the picture goes black when watching blu-rays. Fiddling around with the HDMI cable makes the picture come back. Maybe yours is the same.

Made sure it wasn't this, I must stress the picture only goes to black when I start the game, and it would be a huge coincidence that my wire goes dodgy only when I start certain games.

This is still an issue and when it occurs I have to turn off my PS3 and keep trying to get onto the downloaded game until the video is on. Any suggestions whatsoever. This Playstation 3 is brand new also.

the only thing i can think of is if the game is outputting a resolution not supported by your tv.

My TV supports 580p, 720p, 1080i and 1080p, so I don't know what it could be outputting in

Hmm, I would have presumed so. Nevertheless I will double check. I will also check the output that the games I am having difficulties with play in. Thirdly I will move the PS3 to a different TV and see if the same problems occur.
