Default Painting my room for my Epson 705hd

Ok, I wasn't sure where exactly to put this so I'll try here in the actual projectors forum. I'm in a 21 x 12 rectangular room projecting an epson 705hd onto a HD Do-Able board (surrounded by black Velvet) but all my walls are satin white at the moment. I really wanted to repaint the room and it's about time we repainted the interior of the house anyways.... I know darker is better and matte being recommended. should I use Flat paint or use Eggshell ?? I know flat would probably be the least reflective of the paints but Flat has that wonderful problem of everything sticking to it and being VERY unwashable.

I know that black would be of course the perfect choice but unfortunately I doubt that will fly with the Mrs. Any other colors that forum members use that would be more wife acceptable yet still be dark enough to do the job??? I was thinking of Behr's "Dark Cavern" which is a dark grey (shown below)

http://forums.audioholics.com/forums...1&d=1295206719

any suggestions on styles of paint, colors etc??

Dark Grey is nice ... but ... cold. As are blue and black. These colors will lead to the room being unwelcoming or uncomfortable for some. I personally prefer tones that are dark and warm. Such as reds & browns. I have heard issues with Green. But honestly Dark Blood Red is what I choose and I have never regretted it. Dark Red speaks theater to me. I guess you should find what speaks theater to you.

Also, regardless of the issues, a flat paint is a must choice for projection. Otherwise reflections will be a distraction, flat reflects very, very little.

went with sherwin williams grey matte paint for the media room ... am painting the whole house since it needed it so I used the same color for the walls (but in satin) and white for the ceiling. Sherwin-Williams is having a 40% off sale so I couldn't pass up their paint for about the same price as Valspar or Behr

yeah, I'm hoping that this grey (shown in the link in my first post) will do the job well. I'm doing the media room ALL gray except for white baseboards and the OTHER rooms will have white ceilings

Yeah it does look better, makes me think about changing mine, but just the thought of removing all those curtains puts me off.

Dark gray is a good choice & Flat is the way to go as well wormraper.

I have the same dark gray on my ceiling with a little lighter gray on the walls & it works out great for a room with a projector....

The other option besides painting (or in addition to painting) your room is to cover the front/side walls and the ceiling with attractive wall treatment of your choice and color. The room treatments can lower light reflections and also improve the sound significantly.
