Australia Anyone else here use DVD Profiler?

Was just wondering if anyone else here used DVD Profiler to catalogue their DVD/Blurays?

I've been using it for a LONG while now, and it's pretty great. I recommend you guys check it out, we need more Aussies making submissions!

I used to, years ago. But my DVD collection grew too fast, and there were hardly any aussie titles submitted (back then you searched by barcode or title, not sure how it is these days). By the time I went back to using it, I had way to many titles to just sit down and add them. Same thing happened with http://www.dvdaf.com/ just lost interest. Now I don't bother listing or trying to catalog dvds, and just keep my BD list updated here.

My fiancee uses a program called 'my movies' on her iphone for doing that, shes been trying to get me to use it for ages, but I can't really be bothered with it or setting it up. I find when I have my movies catalogued into a list, everyone asks to borrow them all the time, which is quite annoying, cause I always say no, as people never take care of your stuff as well as u do. Plus if I lend them out, some of the people I know will burn or copy them to their computer, I'm not going to make it easy for someone to get a movie I paid for for free. I don't care if it's my Mum, Dad or Brother, I won't allow anyone to borrow my movies.

I was pretty stupid when I was at uni, I had all my DVDs (about 600+) in huge cd wallets, and people were always asking to borrow a film for the combined lounge, I had trouble saying NO in the past, so I would always get the folder back.... minus a dvd everynow and then. I ended up sticking up a poster asking for DVDs back.. some came back... some didn't. Never again haha

My fiancee sometimes lends her dvd's (not her blu-ray's though, probably because no one she knows owns a blu-ray player) out, and when she gets them back, u should see the state of some of them, but it doesn't really bother her, even if they no longer work properly. She takes good care of them herself, but for some reason she doesn't care if other people (especially when it's her family members) don't, and return them damaged.

Last year I remember when I managed to scrub up the last 2 blu-ray copies of Casino Royale 2 disc collectors edition, in the whole of jb hi fi (1 was for me and the other for my brother) so I no longer needed the original standard release I owned. A good mate asked me if he could borrow it, and since I no longer needed it, I lent it to him. When I got it back the bottom of the disc was covered in crap, I managed to clean it all off with no damage to the disk, but it left me wondering what the hell he did to it to get it so dirty, I wasn't so lucky with the cover though, the paper insert was quite damaged. I just don't understand how some people can damage them so much.

I use it to catalog my DVDs as I have a pretty large library (I used to have about 4000, now I am down to around 2800). Unfortunately, the database is quite weak. I used to add up to about 100 discs per year (foreign submissions), but I don't have the time anymore.

This being said, from all DVD cataloging services, DVDprofiler (Invelos) has the best databse as far as non-English language films are concerned. DVDaf is not even in the same league. For DVDs, it is definitely worth paying the lifetime membership fee.

I don't like the mobile features.

Discovered DVD profiler late last year, love it.
I tested the trial version then bought the full version and cataloged my entire collection of DVD's and Blu Rays. approx 700 all up.
Used a barcode scanner my wife got to scan most in, around 1 in 10 or possibly 2 in 10 don't come up due to a lot of Australian ones not being in the online database, so have to just manually add them from an overseas version and change the barcode to match the australian release.
Also bought the Iphone app which allows you to sync via wifi with your collection on the pc. I can now make additions straight onto the phone and then update the PC later. Great for when you are at the shops and can't remember if you have something, but also for checking your wishlist of things to buy to see if they are on special at the shops.
Also great for when you are out and talking with friends about a movie and want to check something, can search by actor or anything you want really.
As you can probably tell I am a big fan of DVD profiler, i just wish i could use the same program to catalogue my CD's and Games!

p.s. as for the lending discussion, I never lend blu-rays (well i have lent one, which was Powder Blue bought cheap not a special collectors one) otherwise never lend Blu-Rays, as like to keep them in mint especially as they cost more than the DVD's, also as no one really has blu ray player.
With DVD's wont lend any special editions or collectors packs, or any of my favourites, otherwise will lend most DVD's particularly if its just a standard edition of a movie on dvd quite often bought cheap, happy to share the love and get more use out of the collection seeing as i never seem to find that much time to watch myself.
But i also worry about them coming back in good condition, just seems no one takes as good care as you do yourself!
Only lend to close family and friends, not work colleagues or people i know will mistreat.... that's my 2 cents worth on that

I'm using DVD Profiler, and have done since around 2002-2003, I think. I'm very happy with it! I would have a hard time keeping track of the titles in my DVD/Blu-ray collection without it.

Agreed
And the iphone app is great too.
I mainly use the iphone app now that my collection is all catalogued, I can just add new items i buy straight into the iphone app using a barcode scanner app. Then every so often i sync with the pc version to keep up to date.
Great for when you are out and get talking about a movie etc and you can just look it up, and especially good for when at JB and you want to check if you already have something before you buy it again!

About to start cataloging my cds with CD Collectorz, just bought the pro version while it was half price (they also have a iphone app) shame that dvd profiler don't have a cd and game catalogue system...

I do. My DVD collection, tho with streaming video & Fatso (NZ ver of Netflix) I stopped buying most DVDs. I wished they had a similar program for books, but will probably buy a Kindle soon so makes it a moot point.

Default Trailers question

I have been using DVDProfiler for years and love it. I recently downloaded a layout that had trailers in the middle of the screen. I was so excited to use this layout, but cannot. The square for trailers appears, but nothing shows up inside of it. I cannot watch a single trailer. Does anyone know what I am doing wrong or need to do?

Thanks.
