Explorers On Blu Ray???

I have been trying to get this recently, but with no luck at all. Every shop (and even some sites) I go into, say it's been discontinued and they also say that it might be due to a possible up-coming blu ray release... that the studios sometimes do that. They did it with a French film called Betty Blue... I couldn't get that anywhere on DVD, and was told that it could be because the studios might be bringing it out on blu-ray... and low and behold, it came out on blu-ray not long after. Is that's what's happening here? Has anyone heard anything? I know it's on Ebay, but I don't want to waste money on the DVD, if it's going to eventually come out on BR.
