United Kingdom ocd with boxes

If I buy a blu ray and the slipcover is not in mint condition it will bother the crap out of me till I swap it out for another one. Its getting so bad now I have to go in the store to check out the best copy. Anyone else do this? I hate it.

Thing to do is, not collect slip boxes then you wont have to worry about them.

I do it all the time. I remember when I was buying The Princess and the Frog in HMV, not a single copy had a mint slipcover, so I spent almost 3 hours searching for the best one. But that resulted in several members of staff asking what I was doing.

I'm really only OCD about slips just because they make Blu-ray cases look neater when they're mint.

For things like Steelbooks I try to be more flexable because wear will always happen when ink is applied to metal, so I don't get into a hissy fit if I find that there's some wear to it.

I'd never go that far, but I put off buying Moulin Rouge until I found a copy with a slip (but to be fair it is a really nice one ) lol
As for steelbooks I have 3, and 0 with dents. I'm sure its only a matter of time before I order one that turns up dented, they are so delicate.

When it comes to anykind of cardboard box or outer case I won't rest until I've found a 'MINT' one.
As for buying just because something comes with a slipcover... well that's just dumb!

what do you do if you get home and you find marks on it because you can see under the shrink wrap on the case? (and if you took that back and the next one had marks)?

I get a bit miffed when I buy something slipless and see one later on in all it's glory. And there's nothing wrong with wanting a perfect box. I went through a few 30 Rock Season 4's yesterday and didn't even look at the ones with the red security tags because they can get ripped if removed hamfistedly (like my Avatar BD). I bet they were all perfect....

I put a boxset by in HMV a while back and the nice chap wrote my name using the box to press on (my face must have been a picture). When I went to pick it up I got a fresh one from the shelves....

I've got a replacement Harry Potter DVD with my name and address carved into the case somewhere.

I bought a book yesterday and went through a few to find a perfect dustjacket. I do the same with magazines. Why I don't know I always bash them to pieces but they're my bashes....

I went to watch a Family Guy DVD the other night and found out that it had been scuffed in an effort for more shelf space....

And I wrecked the spine of my Beowulf DVD Steelbook because it wasn't on straight....

I'm sure I've said enough to have me finally committed....

I've got a very well trained eye. It comes from years of collecting experience.

Haha I actually did that too but it didn't take me as long, only 5 minutes, now I have a mint condition PATF slipcase

Don't worry - a slipcover not in Gem mint condition does not change the value of the blu-ray. Remember that to get over your nutty obsessions. Maybe you want a blu-ray in gem mint condition, but regarding "actual value", it's not something to worry about, because if someone wants to buy your blu-ray that comes with a slip cover, that person will most likely not care that the slip cover is not in gem mint condition.

I do all of the above! I've wrecked enough boxes trying to make them right. But i don't think a box is ever perfect, If you look long enough your always find something, a mark in card always or on a steelbook not a dent just some sort of mark!!

I wouldn't quite say I'm OCD about it but I do expect no damage to any slips when purchased new. If one arrives damaged because of poor packaging I would request a replacement.

I do enjoy slips, they just look good over the case/s. However, I don't just buy any old film JUST because it has a slip, lol.

This afternoon, I removed all of my slipcovers and cases from my blu-ray collection. Carefully flattened them down, and stored them away in a draw. I only intended to keep them off until I have large enough shelves to accomadate the whole collection. This also keeps my mind at rest when other people's hands are touching.

I've passed to a higher stage of OCD.

If it's not mint, it ain't staying.

I used to come up in hives if someone looked at the little booklet that comes with CD's or DVD's, I'd be thinking "please don't look at it please don't look at it.... damn they did...."

People seem to dig their thumbnails into everything.... I now supply cotton gloves and a sterile enviroment for all my Blu-rays.
