Default The Herculoids: The Complete Original Series - July 27, 2021

https://www.amazon.com/dp/B09741GVLY
Quote:
Somewhere out in deep space, and out of the creative imagination of the animation aces at Hanna- Barbera Studios, live the Herculoids. Humanoid Zandor — along with his wife, Tara, and son, Dorno — leads a group of unique creatures: Zok the flying dragon, powerful simian Igoo (who has rocklike skin), rhinoceros hybrid Tundro and two protoplasmic wonders appropriately named Gloop and Gleep. Together, they use their diverse super-strengths to defend their utopian planet against attack from such sinister invaders as the Pod Creatures, the Reptons and the Mutoids. For total family entertainment, this 18-episode, 3-disc collection is out of this world, literally.

YES! With this release, the trilogy of my favorite cartoon series (that also includes Jonny Quest and Space Ghost) will be complete on Blu-ray.

Amusing that the product page linked in the post lists it as "Temporarily out of stock". Well, duh! seeing as how it hasn't even been released yet. (Although they should have had a preorder link.)

Very exciting. If WAC is completely over soon, I'm glad these HB titles made it through the format. Following the action then comedy release trend, hopefully Top Cat follows this.

Always glad to see more Hanna-Barbera shows on Blu-ray. If WAC releases Top Cat, Frankenstein Jr. and the Impossibles, Birdman and the Galaxy Trio, and/or Wacky Races next, that would be great.

Nice, another classic Hanna-Barbera cartoon on Blu-ray. I would love Top Cat to be next....actually I want SWAT Kats and Pirates of Darkwater the most.

Day one purchase for me. Easily one of HB's finest shows, and perhaps its best-ever adventure series. I cannot overstate the impact that it made on me as a kid.

But I very much hope that it will be based off of improved source material than the DVD release, which has terribly inconsistent and faded colours and astonishingly poor picture condition.

I'm hoping for a release that matches the outstanding image quality of the recent Thundarr blu.

As Jar Jar Stinks already posted, the rhino-like creature, Tundro, shoots energy rocks out of its horn.

The dragon, Zok, shoots laser beams (or some sort of energy beam) out of its eyes and the tip of its tail.

Of all of the remaining HB series, the one that I most hope will come to blu-ray is Valley of the Dinosaurs, which (no joke) very nearly set me on a career to become a paleontologist. At its best, it's nearly as good as Herculoids and Thundarr. And together I find that these three series form a perfect Prehistoric Trilogy.

(Yes, I know that Thundarr is technically set in the future, and Herculoids in a fantasy realm, but they all have that certain man-in-the-Mesozoic quality that, frankly, is the ne plus ultra of action-adventure, when you're a kid, so I consider them all to fit in a kind of Prehistoric Adventure genre.)
