Some of the 3D projectors (Like the BenQ) are not capable of the 3D functions of bluray players. Yours options are to buy a 3D converter box (for the benQ) or go the HTPC route (DLP Link, NVidia 3D), and also make sure both the projector, player/graphics card and glasses are compatible.

Passive 3D is a completely different Beast from the active glasses that are needed for your 3D projector (and most consumer ones). In fact you need to get a screen designed to work with the polarization from the projector, and they cost alot more than what your budget will be. Active is your only option if you are concerned about "budget".
I am not too familiar with the BenQ with 3D, but I know Optoma's 3D XL box is pretty universal. Also look for Xpand glasses, they work pretty well with these devices, projectors and many other 3D devices. You can also go the HTPC route like I mentioned and not use a converter box. HDMI is pretty functional with 3D, it's just that the HDMI 1.4 made standardization of the 3D formats. |
