what a shame.. thought I bought Supernova (2000) With James Spader and Angela Bassett a few weeks back but turns out I bought Supernova (2005) with Luke Perry. I actually remember liking the one made in 2000 but guess that wasn't released on Blu yet.. I hate it when there are multiple movies of the same name!!

yes I looked at the cover but I havent seen the movie for 10 damn years! I didn't realize that it wasn't the movie I thought it was until I popped it in started watching it. I got about 1/4 the way through and thought to myself "I remember this differently". Thats when I looked it up and found out that there was another movie with the same name..

nah couldnt.. bought it online through Overstock.com. was only like a $6-$7 buy but still. Sux to find out the movie you wanted to watch is not what you have..

You could've typed "Supernova" into the search function on this site, checked the PQ/AQ/review, and then realized it's not the same movie!

I have this movie on DVD and to be honest, it's sort of a guilty pleasure of mine.

Edit: the 2000 version, never knew there was another one.

I would find this funny if it was just not realizing even after seeing the cover but it takes a turn into sad when it took 1/4 of the movie + having to look it up after that to clue in

Somehow this is the way The Asylum gets a lot of people to rent and buy their crappy titles. It all started with War of the Worlds where some people thought the War of the Worlds sitting on their local Blockbuster shelf with C. Thomas Howell's name at the top was the exact same thing as the Tom Cruise/Steven Spielberg playing at the multiplex, and the rest is history (Snakes on a Train, Transmorphers, The Day the Earth Stopped, etc.).

I did this once a long time ago. I rented Crash because I wanted to watch the Best Picture film of 2005 and it turned out I got the 1996 film instead!
