Last night, I updated my software via the console link to v4.31. I did that thinking there must be new software and that is why I can't log on. Well, there is new software, but that isn't why I can' t log in, is because its still down. Those waiting to get on, you may want to go ahead and update your software, most likely its needed to be done before you can get online once its back up.

It goes down too for maintenance. I have an XBox but only use it for Forza and watching ESPN.

If any of you know anything about computer networks, you know that no matter how well planned out, something always goes wrong. And in Sony's case, its not like they are rolling out some commercial software, its all custom so that means they could have serious unforeseen problems never thought of or seen before. Keep your fingers crossed. The good thing is the video services can still be accessed.

I'm fine cause i was online before they started it. Though yeah is a bummer because a few of my friends can't get on.

More on topic, what usually bums me out about these things is the lack of transparency on the delays. 12 hour maintenance is lengthy, but understandable. But when it gets delayed to two days, there should be some sort of reason why. More than "we have issues". I don't care if it is "some intern knocked a server rack over, don't worry he's fired now" or what, just maybe something to help people understand why the process is taking so long. Because it seems almost half the time Sony does a "routine" maintenance, it gets delayed by a few hours, days or maybe even months.

I'd like more transparency as well but from their side once you start giving details people have their own expectations on how long fixing the problem should take. They would probably rather leave us in the dark and deal with us *****ing about it.

I'm annoyed because my PS3 says a lot of my PS+ games which I want to play are expired. To unexpire them I need to be logged into PSN so I can't play them at the moment...

Edit: And it's back up... For me anyway at least.
