fats ps3 to slim drive swap?

hey folks I need some quick advice bad news my old fat ps3 has just died on me
its 4yrs old now I wont be getting it repaired but I have just ordered a new slim 160gb now the question is can I just slot my old 320gb drive I had in my fat ps3
into my new slim will my game saves and data still be there? will my warranty be invalid the minute I do swap them over

Once you put your old HDD onto the new PS3, your saves will be deleted (the new console will automatically format the drive). So unless you can turn on your old console and do a data transfer, your out of luck.
