The Two Jakes (Chinatown sequel) - Blu-ray Forum

I must be one of the few people who like The Two Jakes a little more than Chinatown.

This movie is in dire need of a new transfer and a Blu-ray release. If you haven't seen it, it's on Netflix. However the picture is very dark and contains ungodly amounts of sharpening.

As Chinatown is widely considered to be a masterpiece it was extremely brave to make The Two Jakes. I think its a very good film and I'd buy it without hesitation. Its a great pity it wasn't well received at the time as I'd love to have seen Gittes Vs. Gittes.

Tried watching this on Netflix once a while back and just couldn't get into it. If they add it back I'll give it another try.

A major want of mine as well and would also have loved to see the trilogy completed.

Two Jakes, while not the unprecedented tour-de-force that is Chinatown, is still a good film. It's absence on Blu-ray makes no sense. They have to work real hard on that one.
