Due to the higher resolution, almost every BD is better than the DVD. With the format having so much potential, "better than DVD" is just an underachievement.

. . . is iif it's an accurate representation of how the movie was filmed. 28 Days Later looks awful (until the last scene anyway) but that's how it was filmed. Open Water is pretty rough too, but again, it's the movie, not the transfer.
In those cases poor PQ is to be expected. |

Interestingly enough, there are people who don't like particular films in the highest quality possible because they feel it changes the mood and reveals a lot more detail than it should. I'm specifically talking about some who are very reactionary to horror movies with bright, pristine prints on Blu Ray.

Of course, I'd love every single movie ever made to have perfect PQ. If it doesn't...oh well, I can tolerate it most of the time. Just as long as it's not like "Ong Bak," which still stands as the worst PQ I ever saw.

I do kind of appreciate the appearance of some older films DVD transfer over BDs for the grindhouse nostalgia, but this could be implemented by software on players to apply a fake grindhouse filter to otherwise perfect PQ.
