I ran into an issue last night after hooking up my game systems to my TV (just finished moving into a new place)...
I was streaming HD content on the Xbox 360 perfectly fine. Switched the same HDMI cable over to the PS3 and despite it saying the content was HD, it was only showing up in horrible standard def. Switched the HDMI back to the 360 and it worked just as well as before. Switched it back to the PS3 and tried a blu-ray. Played fine in high-def and looked amazing. Tried netflix again...still no HD streaming. So I know it is not a problem with the system's capabilities. It has to lie within Netflix somewhere and somehow. ![]() So my question is...what is happening that is preventing the PS3 (and only the PS3) from streaming Netflix content in HD? Is anyone else having this issue? |

as dereks mentioned already, its a matter of bandwidth as well as how your ps3 is connected.
for what its worth, give it a couple of minutes to transcend from SD to HD, which normally occurs around two to three minutes in a movie/show. you can also see the stats via the select button, showing you what bandwidth its running and the details too. |

Wireless is nice but not very practical for using Netflix IMO. |

If it really was a bandwidth issue, would there not also be an issue with the Xbox 360? Netflix HD streaming on that is working like a dream. ![]() I'll try running wired and see if that fixes the problem. |

I heard some people have issues with the distance from their wireless router. For those people, they should go Gigabit Ethernet wired. ![]() |

Reviews favor the PS3's PQ/AQ. http://news.cnet.com/8301-17938_105-20019876-1.html |

Netflix is not giving you more or even the same bitrate on your 720p image as their 1080p image. The picture quality increases as your bandwidth increases. That increase in PQ only stops at 1080p, for those devices able to receive a 1080p image from Netflix. ![]() Again, Netflix is not washing out their streaming images for the PS3 (it feels silly to even have to type that). We already should know that the PS3 faithfully reproduces images and the X360 does not (do to severe gamma issues via the GPU). Any professional calibrator will tell you that. |

I dont know about you guys but I've gotten a better more consistent picture using my PS3. Using Netflix through the XBox 360 I noticed the picture going up and down in quality WAY more often...and I've noticed the sound is better on PS3 as well.
![]() This is using them both wired by the way. |

I think the consensus is that it might be a problem with your setup or PS3. I stream HD Netflix feeds, wirelessly, with no real problems. But, I also have the know how and tools to identify whether an issue is the ISP, Netflix server, my own home network, or PS3.
