Default New DVD and Bluray discs with replication issues

Hi guys,

So I opened my new copy of My-HiME vol 1 and enjoyed episodes 1 to 3. Then at the preview all hell breaks loose in my player an the disc refuses to play the preview and the extra at the end of the episode. It then skips forward to episode 4. All this while I thought the player is breaking due to mechanical noises...

Now, the perfectionist that I am I will have to repurchase this disc... I hope that the rest of the discs in the series play without a problem.

Luckily the disc is still available freely and cheap enough to replace.

But it makes me think: What if that super rare disc in my collection that I will eventually get around to watching in 10 years from now will have some playback issues?

How many discs have you had with replication issues and how do you handle it? Do you simply repurchase (if possible) or do you ignore the issue?

I have also had an issue with the DVD of GITS:SAC The Laughing Man that refused to play over the layer break of the disc. I have had to repurchase it on Bluray.

All this makes me think that Bandai discs have lots of replication issues in general? Is my assumption correct in your experiences as well?
