Default Samsung Blu-ray / Samsung Dynaflat HD1080i TV

Gentlemen,

I hooked up my new BD-P1000 to my Samsung Dynaflat TV and all I can watch is the 480i resolution. My TV is old enough where it does not have a HDMI connection so I used my component connection. However, when I try switching to the component all I get on the TV is a bunch of fuzzy lines in blue and green.

My TV reads that it is capable of going up to 1080i, but that does not seem to be happening. Is the TV to old? Is the BD player not recognizing the TV'e 1080i's capability? Bad decoding?

I sure hate to think that I need to get a new TV, but if that's what I need to do, then suggestions on new 1080p models will be appreciated. Thanks for the help in advance.

Paul
