Default College payments process question.

I recently passed the GED test and I'm looking at my next step which is associates degree at a community college before rolling it over to a 4year. Here is my thing I'm so confused on the payment aspect of this. I under stand there is student aid which I'm sure I won't get I'm already 25. I know the associates cost 7500.00 will I be expected to pay that right away? Or do they usually give it to you in payments through out the 2 years? I tried to google kind find the info I'm looking for thought I would get some help here

First off file the FAFSA paperwork for financial aid. As far as I know the fact that you are 25 shouldn't matter and you could get financial aid based on income. As for the cost of school when I went to community college tuition was based on however hours you took each semester. At the time (2002-2004) I believe tuition was $80 per hour, and I was taking about 15 hours per semester so the cost was about $1,200 per semester. My school allowed that to be paid in 3 payments with 1/3 upfront, 1/3 the next month, and the final 1/3 the next month. Every college is different though so I'd contact someone at the college and find out their payment structure, but I'm sure it would be paid over the length of the program.

Age has nothing to do with Financial aid, assuming you are in the US. All you need to do is fill out the FAFSA application with on the website fafsa.ed.gov. This can be filled out once you get all the documents in line for your tax return. I am sure some tax return companies will even help you fill this out. Depending on your income you will definitely be eligible for Federal Loans, and possibly even grants. Government aid in the US is not age restricted, I took out massive loans for law school at the age of 28. Be sure to apply to FAFSA asap once you can as the sooner your get the app in the more likely you will get grant money which is free and does not have to be paid back if you qualify for them.

You pay by the credit hour for the period of time you'll be taking the class (typically by semester). My son's typical semester cost is ~$4700, and my daughter's is ~$5500 (not counting room and board). These are State schools, so the costs are probably higher than a CC. Also, both are getting ~$1000 per semester in scholarship money. Find out what the cost per credit hour is, multiply that by the number of credit hours of classes you'll be taking at the time, and that's close to what the total cost will be for the semester.
