Are these two early Peter Jackson movies available (totally uncut, excellent PQ, and excellent AQ) on BD anywhere that'll play on my Region A player? If so, please provide details.

There are rumors that Peter Jackson is working on Blu-rays of those movies, so hopefully those are true.

I believe it was mentioned in a past Lord Of The Rings story that he was working on them.

I don`t think so. It is also unknown who owns the rights to in North America. Anchor Bay doesn`t own it anymore. I know this because i sent them an email.
