Amazon AMAZON Buyers Thread

Ok, so I wanted to start a thread for users like me who use Amazon.com for a majority of their purchases. Obviously, I use Amazon for buying most all of my blu rays, but as of lately, I have been using the site to purchase most all of my home theater products.

For example, all my HDMI cables, component cables, optical, and speaker wire, are purchased through Amazon. And most the time, they are the Amazon Basics brand. In my opinion, the Amazon Basics brand HDMI cables etc, are of pretty good quality and offer a tremendous amount of bang for the buck.

Not only that, but with the free shipping and NO TAX, I often find Amazon to be the go to place for all my buying.

Does anyone else use Amazon for a lot of their purchases? If so, what have you recently bought?

Me personally, I recently bought the kindle fire tablet, and in return, upgraded to Amazon Prime. So now, not only do I get free 2 day shipping on all my orders, but I get to take advantage of Amazon Video On Demand, which I'm finding to be a nice perk since I canceled Netflix last year.

Please share your thoughts on what Amazon has to offer, and what deals you have found on it lately. Any other happy PRIME members out there, who feel the same way as i do?

I am finding myself buying a lot of blus through Amazon recently. Every week seems to have a deal on a good title that's just too good to pass up.

I think of my entire blu collection only about 5 or 6 didn't come from Amazon. I'm a Prime member and I love it. Well worth the $80 or so it cost to join Prime. I've compared pricing of blus to BB's website and Amazon almost always beats them. Add in the free shipping with Prime and its a no-brainer.

I am an Amazon addict. I use it practically every week to order Blu-Rays, DVDs (yes, I still get some of those on occasion ), and music.

Last night, I placed an order for "Assassin's Creed: Lineage," the original "The Taking of Pelham 123," and "Wild Wild West" all on Blu-Ray, plus the soundtrack to "127 Hours," an older album by Collide, and the black album by Metallica. It was also a good time to pre-order the first three "American Pie" movies, "Gremlins 2," and "Dragonheart" (all on Blu-Ray, of course).

I agree. I wasn't a prime member until i purchased my kindle fire, but ever since, i have found prime to be a GREAT investment. Since having prime, I have even been ordering not theater products, such as a bed frame recently.

Like you said, It really is a no brainer. And with Amazon Video to boot, I couldn't be happier.

I must say, getting off work, and finding an amazon package on my doorstep with my new movie, is always SO EXCITING

I use them almost exclusively, but in the last 6 months their shipping procedures have become really weak. I've had to return 20+ blu-rays that arrive crush/damaged/spines cut with a box cutter... they have really lowered their quality control. However, their customer service always makes up for it, but it's still a hassle.

Amazon US and UK are the biggest recipients of my BD craving. Being in India I don't buy as often as some of you folks because I have to wait a good while for packages to reach me and very large orders would land me with hefty customs duties, but ya, most of what I buy is through these.

Delivery/shipping service is slipping. I am a prime member and lately when I pre-order, my films arrive 1-2 days after the release date. I have contacted them more than once inquiring why pay prime and not get my merchandise on time, yet I've never received any type of response. Pisses me off!

I am an "addict" as well, so your not alone. Just be careful, cause your wallet will feel the effect of your addiction sooner than later I know mine has.

And speaking of music, I have recently been purchasing music from amazon as well. Not sure If you were speaking of digital, but digital is what I have been buying as of late. I know that Amazon cant take down Itunes, but i think there digital music store Is a nice alternative for those of us that don't use apple for buying music. Me personally, I couldn't be happier with what they have to offer!

All my purchases have arrived on or before release. Sorry you have had trouble. Being a PRIME member, you should make sure you get a hold of them, and work something out. From my experience, their customer service is great. I once received a damaged tv from them, and they over-nighted a new one to me to keep me happy. On another occasion, i received a blu without a slip, and they refunded me some money. Always there to help when unhappy in my experience.

And while speaking of PRIME, any other users use the Amazon Video service with a Roku box. Im currently using my kindle fire to take advantage of the service, but would like to watch movies on my tv! If so, which Roku are you using, and how is the Amazon VOD on it!?

Thanks

Never knew that. Thanks for the info. Seems like a promotion to get others interested into signing up for prime. Im sure this will work out well for them.

Did anyone else take advantage of The Twilight Zone Gold box deal of the day recently? Forgot what the price was, but kicking myself in the a** now, cause I remember it being a pretty good deal. Didn't pick it up, but now I'm wishing I had.....

I've been fortunate to evade a debt crisis by finding good deals and doing some rudimentary budgeting.

I've been buying CDs for the most part, but I have started buying MP3 albums from Amazon. It is more convenient, and I'm happy with their quality (and I'm especially happy that there's no content-control issues with them). I think this year, I'll round off my CD collection, filling in various holes, before going all (or mostly) digital.

Holy crap yes. I've been eyeballing that bundle for months, if not a whole year. Must have saved $100! What a steal!

Smart buying will keep you out of debt, and i am glad you have done so.
And yes, i too will soon go mostly digital with my music purchases. I feel music will become mostly digital in the future, however movies will stay mostly physical, which i am happy about. I hope movies never go the way of music, and digital becoming the medium. I for one, prefer a physical copy of my movie. Music, I feel less strongly about.

And congrats on the Twilight Zone purchase. Just makes me wish that much more that I had purchase it myself. Such a steal!!!

Thanks to everyone with their reply's. I would really like this thread to expand, so that others could share deals and experiences that they have had with Amazon. For me personally, and i am sure others, Amazon is the go to place for a lot of their purchases.

Whether It be taking advantage of prime and free shipping, Amazon VOD, or just good deals, It would be nice to let others know what deal you have found.

And don't just limit your purchases to blu ray's, but any home theater deal you have bought.

I have purchased everything from tv's, cables, blu's, and harmony remotes, all for great deals, even without the Gold Box specials.

Thanks again.....

Because I have Prime I buy everything from Amazon if its not food. I can thank this site however for pointing me in the right direction for the right deals. Still, it's Amazon that's sucking up all my money. I'll have at least one blu-ray or box set from Amazon in the mail each week. I also get music and books, but that makes up for probably 10% of what I buy from them.

This is what I don't like about Amazon especially when its a special box set or has a slipcover. Sometimes, I don't even bother sending stuff back for replacement cause I feel like I'm just that annoying customer who needs everything perfect. That's what I miss about buying out of the retail store: at least you get to choose the nicest copy they have. I suppose casual customers wouldn't care about dents or bends, but they drive me insane!

But I love it when I get things DAY ONE, since its not a feeling I got to have a child. I always had to wait for things. Oh, the joys of owning a credit card. Just don't have me look at my checking account after its been balanced.
