Yeah, seems pointless to release another Blu-ray. I'll wait for a future 4K release before buying again.

Warner is licensing! That's bigger news than this movie.

They've been licensing to Shout for a little while now. Femme Fatale, JFK, Natural Born Killers, and Creepshow come to mind.

But yeah, a Blu-ray release seems pointless unless they get some big interviews. Why no 4K?

Warner has been licensing out movies to Shout! for almost 6 years at this point.

While I'm sure a new 4K remaster will be an upgrade over the 2010 Blu-ray, that release already had quite a packed disc. Not exactly a great film, either, so not sure why Shout is bothering unless the old Blu looks particularly awful.

This was one of my favorite movies as a kid. I still remember my mom getting it for me on VHS. I’ll gladly update my existing Blu-ray for the collectors edition.

I'm not buying wither. If they are remastering these in 4K; then put it out on a 4K disc. $K has been around long enough that anything new should be 4K, IMO.

4K wasn't a concept at that time but undoubtedly they were finished on a film out element so they'd still look decent enough for 4K though the flaws would likely be even worse

I thought it was a fairly decent remake but I already have a blu-ray so I'll most likely skip this release.

I’m gonna reserve judgement on this until I see the special features list. This one is a guilty pleasure of mine.

Except replication costs for UHDs are much higher than blu-ray (not to mention there's only 1 replication plant left for North America and only 3-4 left worldwide), so if it doesn't stand to make a huge profit, it's not getting a 4K disc and taking up slots reserved for discs that will sell better.

I don't think that's the issue, though. The issue is probably that Warner only did a 2K scan of a film element (probably an interpositive), which is what the overwhelming majority of these Warner-licensed titles have been for Shout. I think the only exceptions have been Nightbreed and Night of the Demons, neither of which were likely to have been WAC Blu-rays, anyway, which, along with having 4K scans, is probably why Warner allowed Shout to do 4K UHD releases.
