Default Advice on Speaker Cable

Hi all,

Looking into buying speaker cable, I'm installing it in a rather large room requiring 10m for each rear speaker (I'm using a 6.1 system) and with tight budget contraints, I'm wondering how cheap I can go without trading off on good audio. I currently have QED XT anniversary for the front 3 speakers hence the lack of budget now!

Would this be decent cable?

eBay

Appreciate any help, thanks!

How much are you looking to spend?

Those offer a great value for their price point $0.69 a foot for 12 gage.

I could not agree more with you. , If you ask me it depends a lot on the speakers. extremely resolving speakers require quality caables. I speak with my own experience. Driving most speakers it does not change anything.

OP what speakers are you looking to drive? I see you have soem quality speaker cables in the front.

I like Monoprice, used it in 2 of my rooms. For my 2 channel room I spent a bit more on some cables, and to be honest I don't know if there is much of a difference.

Wire gauge is really the important consideration here. As long as you're using #14 or better you should be ok and you can source that cable from anywhere... monoprice, big box store, etc.

Good luck

Monoprice. I bought a 100ft roll for $30. All based on what people have said in this and other forums.

What Flat speaker cable have you seen Ryan?

Well Nordost makes some really amazing flat Speaker cables, I have seen some Phillips 16 gage flat speaker cables tu run under carpet using standard copper and was working fine for surrounds.

They work just as good as any other cable if you ask me.

Audioquest also sells flat cables. I used to have some that I ran underneath my carpet for my rear speakers. I was always very pleased with them, and they weren't really all that expensive either.
