Default Untitled Dan Aykroyd and Chevy Chase Film

Quote:
Dan Aykroyd and Chevy Chase Are Writing a New Comedy Script

As Ghostbusters 3 is looking less and less likely with each new non-update from Dan Aykroyd, the actor/screenwriter has announced that he’s now getting to work on a new comedy with fellow Saturday Night Live alum Chevy Chase. No plot details were given, but Aykroyd said that he’s beginning to start work on a script concept for a comedy movie with Chase. Aykroyd hasn’t had a script produced since 1998’s Blues Brothers 2000 (yeah, that movie actually happened) and Chase’s last writing credit was the short-lived The Chevy Chase Show in 1993, but apparently the two have an idea for a new comedy that they’d like to see come to fruition. Hit the jump for more.

Aykroyd made the announcement on his Facebook page:

Quote:
“Chevy (Chase) and I are about to start work on a script concept for a comedy movie. Cannot say too much about the concept, but the joy of working with him again is one that I am extremely excited about. Chevy is one of my favourite people, and one of the great anarchistic and physically committed comedians in the business.”
This news might have been exciting 25 years ago, but Chase is consistently the weakest link on NBC’s Community. Furthermore, he recently revealed to Steve that he was working on his own Vacation script with co-star Beverly DeAngelo to counter the studio’s reboot of the franchise, and lets just say his plot idea for the Griswolds isn’t the sharpest. As for Aykroyd, I think he’s actually still quite funny, but his scripts generally leave something to be desired. There’s no guarantee that the script by Aykroyd and Chase will even get to a studio, let alone production, but at this point it appears they’re intent on working through the concept.

I'd be 30x more excited if it was 30 years ago.

Blame Bill Murray for that one. They have not started filming, and from the sounds of it won't without Murray who has expressed absolutely no interest.

Chevy hasn't been funny in years, so I hope he can reconnect with his old self. I still remember how awkward and horrible his late night show was, ugh.

If he wrote that stinko Blues brothers 2000,I am not looking forward to this one.He has done some good stuff, but His highs haven't been equivelant to his bottomless lows.Long time since I've heard anything from CC.

Maybe this means that we'll finally get to see that Nothing But Trouble sequel that everyone's been clamoring for.

Joking aside, I really would watch it. That movie is one of the weirdest creations ever put on film.

What else could it be? The Coneheads return, Dr. Detroit 2 or even Fletch Retires? I loved Spies Like Us, but for these guys...they almost need a Steve Martin to be like "nah, leave it to me, just ride the coattails..."

I see what you mean, but even Steve Martin has been washed up for almost two decades.

Interesting. Because Ackroyd's buddy Bill Murray refuses to read the Ghostbusters 3 script putting the movie on indefinite hold, Ackroyd buddies up again with Murray's SNL nemesis, Chevy Chase, instead.

I love all 3 of them. Old doesn't necessarily mean 'washed up' to me.

Steve Martin, Akroyd, Chase, Bill Murray .. Eddie Murphy.. I'm not sure I'd find any of them all that funny anymore. I'd be happy to be proven wrong but it has been a long time for any of them.

I never found them funny, I just like most of their movies...except Bill and Eddie who have done some truly awful crap.

Planes Trains and Automobiles is pretty much what I think of when Steve Martin was funny

The rest for some old 80's movies as well. Bill Murray has had his moments beyond that.

You never found Eddie Murphy, Bill Murray, Chevy Chase, or Steve Martin funny? Ever?

Who do you think is funny?

EDIT: Nevermind. I see you own Anchorman, 40-Year Old Virgin, and Funny People. Tells me all I need to know.

I am certainly cautiously optimistic about this!

I loved some of their movies.

Let's see.
