Default Box Office Showdown 3/30 - 4/1

The Hunger Games is coming off a huge record setting weekend, and faces Wrath of the Titans and Mirror Mirror in the upcoming weekend. The Hunger games held very well through its initial weekend, but will probably see a significant box office drop in its second weekend. Will Wrath of the Titans emerge as the new box office champ or will The Hunger Games reign once again? Maybe Mirror Mirror will pull off the upset?

What an odd weekend, The Hunger Games is liked, but not loved by many people. Wrath seems to have just suddenly turned up (trailer only came out late December) and the first didn't exactly set fire to the box office and wasn't most critically received. And no one seems overly keen on Mirror Mirror, but it's the one with the most exposure.

I agree with Blu-Benny. There are now reviews on Rotten Tomatoes for either of the competing movies so far. That can't be good.

I picked Wrath of the Titans. My feeling is that Mirror Mirror will affect The Hunger games a lot more than Wrath of the Titans.

Without a doubt, The Hunger Games will be #1...but I don't think it will be by a landslide or anything.

"The Hunger Games" will have a more universal appeal; action for the dudes and romance for the ladies. So, I think it'll stay in the lead.

The reviews are going to be poor...count on it. However, Clash of the Titans 2010 scored 28% positive @ RT and still managed a $61 million opening weekend.

I see Hunger Games winning again. I still know several people that plan to go see it next weekend.

Between the killer weekend Hunger Games just had, the negative reaction to Clash of the Titans, and the pure crappiness look of Mirror Mirror, Hunger Games should win easily.

Hunger Games: $45 million
Wrath of the Titans: $30 million
Mirror Mirror: $15 million

I'm going to say Wrath this week.

Films that target the tween demo seem to be heavily front loaded. Even Harry Potter 7.2 dropped off over 50% its first week.

It made almost $170 million it’s opening weekend….it still brought in over $70 million it’s 2nd weekend.

No movie that makes that much has enough staying power to make even ½ of what it did its opening weekend.

Mirror Mirror is going to get smashed, not hearing any buzz about it at all, it's dead once the summer rush hits, so stuff like Snow White and Avengers.

I agree with that, thats why I'm predicting a healthy dip for Games.

Of course the fanbase could surprise me, but if its anything like the Twilight crowd they will see it once then never again.

Lets be honest here, that movie was dead before it even hit theaters.

Seems like people are loving (A cinemascore, A+ under 18) so it will probably hold better than Twilght and HG is appealing to everyone.

I’m guessing Hunger Games is going to do the same kind of #’s every other movie that has won it’s 2nd weekend recently has.

Somewhere in the $35-$50 million range.

Anything above $50 million and i'd be
